2 training programs rated by UPM star rating system

NTTU – The higher education rating system in Vietnam and the region – UPM (University Performance Metrics – UPM) has just announced the star rating results for 18 training programs at universities across the country. In particular, the training program in Information Technology and Restaurant Management and Catering Services of Nguyen Tat Thanh University excellently presented.

Accordingly, the Information Technology training program was awarded 4 stars plus, excellently ranked in the top 6 of the rankings, in which the criteria of Strategic Alignment, University Ecosystem, and Program Strength were rated 5-star; criteria: Teaching and learning, Research and innovation, Community service are 4-star; 3-star for internationalization. The training program in Restaurant Management and Catering Services is awarded with 3 plus stars, in which the university Ecosystem criterion is awarded with 5-star; criteria Strategic Alignment, Teaching and Learning, Community Service and Program Strength are 4-star rated. With this result, Nguyen Tat Thanh University is currently the only non-public university with a training program participating in UPM’s star ranking.

Restaurant Management and Catering Services rated 3-Star Plus by UPM

UPM’s star rating evaluated based on 44 criteria belonging to 7 standard groups including: Strategic Alignment (8 criteria); Program strength (11 criteria); Research and innovation (7 criteria); University ecosystem (5 criteria); Internationalization (4 criteria); Community service (3 criteria); Outstanding (6 criteria). The star rating shows a true and positive picture of quality, bringing useful, multi-dimensional information to stakeholders from universities to students, employers and administrators. Universities that participate in the UPM star rating will have the opportunity to compare in terms of quality. From there, it helps not only affirm its value but also an important step to continuously improve and enhance the quality.

These are the first two undergraduate training programs of Nguyen Tat Thanh University to receive stars from UPM. This result is because the University has constantly invested in facilities, teaching staff, improved training quality, supported students’ jobs placement, promoted scientific research during its operation and recent development. According to Dr. Tran Ai Cam, the President of Nguyen Tat Thanh University, this will be one of the good bases for the University to do better in analyzing strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and challenges to realize its important goals in the development strategy of the university and towards higher goals. This result is also a worthy reward for the university’s efforts in accrediting training quality in recent years.

In August 2020, the University Quality Ranking System in Vietnam and the region – UPM also ranked Nguyen Tat Thanh University as a 4-star institution. According to UPM, 4-star universities are prestigious in the country and in the region.
