Nguyen Tat Thanh University ranks 4th among Vietnamese universities in academic achievements for 2023 – 2024
In December 2023, the University Ranking by Academic Performance (URAP) announced the world university rankings for 2023-2024.
In Vietnam, there are 5 more universities included in this ranking, bringing the total to 23 universities compared to 18 universities in 2022. Nguyen Tat Thanh University ranks 4th, rising 2 spots from the October 2023 ranking.
Based on criteria such as quantity, quality of scientific publications, citation index, and scientific influence, in the 2023-2024 ranking, Nguyen Tat Thanh University is ranked 947th (up 364 places from October 2023) out of 3000 universities worldwide and ranks 4th among the 23 ranked universities in Vietnam.
According to the data released, Nguyen Tat Thanh University has achieved very high scores in the Article, Citation, and Collaboration criteria, with scores of 30.2, 60, and 69.82, respectively. This demonstrates positive changes and improvements in the quality of scientific research activities at the university in recent times.
According to Dr. Tran Ai Cam, President of Nguyen Tat Thanh University, the university’s high ranking in the URAP ranking is part of the development orientation of the university in the new period. “We are committed to continuing to invest towards sustainable development,” he said. Dr. Cam also noted that these results are a recognition of the efforts of the university’s team of scientists, but also pose significant challenges in consolidating the university’s reputation and position as the Vietnamese education system integrates and develops.
Nguyen Tat Thanh University first appeared in the URAP ranking in 2020-2021, ranking 2,042nd and 12th among Vietnamese universities. In 2021-2022, the university ranked 1,291st and 7th among Vietnamese universities. In October 2023, the university was ranked 6th, and in December 2023, it was ranked 947th globally and 4th among Vietnamese universities.
As of August 2023, Nguyen Tat Thanh University has over 3,200 publications in international journals indexed in the ISI/SCOPUS system and over 1,100 publications in reputable domestic scientific journals. Particularly, the Vietnam Journal of Computer Science (VJCS) of Nguyen Tat Thanh University has been officially accepted into the SCOPUS database. Most recently, the VJCS journal of Nguyen Tat Thanh University has been ranked by SCImago as a reputable scientific journal (Q3 group) in the field of computer science.
URAP uses scientific data from Web of Science independently, along with an objective evaluation method. Criteria related to the quantity and quality of scientific publications are the most weighted factors in the ranking results.
