Nguyen Tat Thanh University signs Memorandum of Agreement with La Trobe University (Australia)

On March 21st, 2023, Nguyen Tat Thanh University (NTTU) proudly organized a memorandum of agreement (MOA) signing ceremony with La Trobe University (Australia). The signing ceremony welcomed representatives from the Australian Consulate General, Ms. Eliza Chui – Trade Commissioner, The Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade), Ms. Trinh Phan Thuy Trinh – representative of the Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade).

Dr. Stacey Farraway – Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Future Growth and Ms. Hieu Le – Regional Manager in Vietnam, La Trobe University represented La Trobe University to participate in the ceremony.

From NTTU, Dr. Nguyen Lan Phuong – Vice President, Dr. Nguyen Manh Hoang – Deputy Director of NTT Institute of International Education, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Quang Hao, Dean of the Faculty of Tourism and Creative Communication; Dr. Nguyen Xuan Nhi, Dean of Faculty of Business Administration, Dr. Nguyen Thi Nguyet Anh, Vice Dean of Faculty of Foreign Languages, Mr. Le Quang Khanh, Head of International Relations Department and other representatives participated to celebrate the ceremony.

Dr. Nguyen Lan Phuong expects that the cooperation between the two institutions will become a successful partnership which brings opportunities for enhancing student mobility and exchange, international learning environment, hence contributing to improving the human workforce in Vietnam.  Meanwhile, Dr. Nguyen Lan Phuong hopes that the mutual partnership will be further strengthened and sustained as the two institutions signed the official MOA. In addition, she further emphasized that: “Throughout the years, Nguyen Tat Thanh University has established partnerships with a number of Australian institutions. The Memorandum of Agreement between Nguyen Tat Thanh University and La Trobe University is an important milestone for the two institutions to further strengthen strategic collaboration in higher education, offering our students with one of the best pathways for their pursuit of higher education qualification. I strongly believe that our academic partnership would benefit both sides, especially the students with even more fruitful cooperation programs/projects in the future”.

The MOA agreement between Nguyen Tat Thanh University and La Trobe University will open up many study-abroad opportunities for students, especially in the fields of Business, Accounting, Tourism and Hospitality. Students will undertake their undergraduate study at NTTU first and continue to study in Australia within 2 years to receive bachelor’s degree from La Trobe University.

The signing ceremony between Nguyen Tat Thanh University and La Trobe University (Australia) opens up various learning opportunities and experiences for students.

During the signing ceremony, both sides also shared other collaborative possibilities for short-term study programs with the aim of enhancing English language proficiency by integrating English study into the bachelor’s degree program before studying at an English-speaking country like Australia. In addition, students will have an opportunity to participate in short-term programs from 4 to 6 weeks to receive a completion certificate of English learning in Australia while studying at NTTU.

Moreover, joint doctoral training programs are also a potential area of collaboration in order to support qualification and research competency development for NTTU lecturers. La Trobe University also further proposed a number of potential disciplines for joint doctoral training such as health sciences, innovation and digital transformation, environment and sustainability, agriculture, etc. Regarding scholarship awards, La Trobe University will take into consideration scholarships for Vietnamese students from 10% up to 30% as a way to support the development of high-quality human resources between Vietnam and Australia.

Throughout the years, NTTU has established partnerships with a number of Australian institutions, starting with NTTU’s partnership with Chisholm TAFE offering Certificates 4 programs in Business areas. The 2+2 training model agreed by Nguyen Tat Thanh University and La Trobe University is an important milestone for the two institutions to further strengthen strategic collaboration in higher education, offering our students with one of the best pathways for professional career development in the future. This bilateral agreement is a strong affirmation that the University’s focus is on the quality of higher education to create a learners-oriented study environment in the context of international integration.
