Nguyen Tat Thanh University Invests in Electric Cars for Student Practical Training

NTTU – NTTU’s Faculty of Engineering and Technology recently hosted a successful welcoming ceremony for the incoming class of 2023 at the Van Khanh practice facility. During the event, the university received the handover of a VinFast VF8 electric car, valued at over 1 billion VND, dedicated to teaching and practical training.

The ceremony was attended by representatives from various businesses, including Ms. Bach Thi Thuy Hang, Head of the Administrative and Human Resources Department at Estec Vietnam Co., Ltd.; Mr. Nguyen Tien Dat, Head of Sales Department at Estec Vietnam Co., Ltd.; Mr. Pham Xuan Hung, Sales Engineer at Estec Vietnam Co., Ltd.; Mr. Pham Hung Nam, Director of VinFast Binh Thanh Showroom; and Mr. Nguyen Minh Tam, VinFast ADAS Expert.

Regarding Nguyen Tat Thanh University, there are Dr. Le Van An – Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology; Dr. Duong Hoang Long – Vice-Dean of the Faculty; Dr. Tran Quang Huy – Vice-Dean of the Faculty; MSc. Hoang Hai Son – Vice-Dean of the Faculty, along with numerous faculty members from the Faculty of Engineering and Technology; MSc. Nguyen Thi Thu Thao – Deputy Head of the Student Affairs Office cum Secretary of the Youth Union of the University, along with heads of departments, lecturers, and more than 500 new students from the 2023 intake of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology.

During the program, new students learned about the 20-year development journey of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, highlighting various achievements. They also gained insights into the nine specialized fields offered by the faculty and received information about scientific research and academic clubs affiliated with the faculty.

Within the framework of the program, the Faculty of Engineering and Technology recognized and rewarded the top-performing and outstanding students in the entrance exams. Huynh Hong Cau from the 23DOT1C class was honored as the top student in the Automotive Engineering Technology program for the academic year 2023–2024. Nguyen Hoang Man, a new student from the 23DCD1A class, achieved the highest score in the entrance exam for Mechatronics Engineering. Le Hoang Hai, a new student from the 23DDT1A class, secured the top position in the entrance exam for Electrical and Electronic Engineering Technology.

Representing the over 500 new students, Huynh Hong Cau, a student in the Automotive Engineering Technology program, emotionally shared his feelings about choosing a major and university. Cau and the other 500 students from the Faculty of Engineering and Technology had numerous choices, but selecting Nguyen Tat Thanh University to pursue their dreams marked a significant turning point in their lives. Cau was impressed by the training model that combines 30% theory with 70% practice at the faculty, providing students with the opportunity to learn, experience real-world scenarios, and accumulate practical knowledge in various companies before graduation. Additionally, Cau expressed hopes of participating in internship programs with foreign universities to gain more skills and language proficiency.

On this occasion, the Faculty of Engineering and Technology received a VinFast VF8 electric car worth over 1 billion VND for teaching, practical training, and scientific research. According to Dr. Le Van An, Dean of the Faculty, electric cars are expected to become a significant trend with tremendous potential in the automotive industry in Vietnam and worldwide. Investing in smart electric cars for education will help students in the Electric and Smart Automotive Technology program at Nguyen Tat Thanh University gain new knowledge about developing intelligent systems in the digital age. Moreover, it provides an opportunity for students to access cutting-edge trends, understand the direction of development, and expand their career prospects.

VinFast Binh Thanh Showroom Director, Mr. Pham Hung Nam, personally handed over the VinFast VF8 electric car to the Faculty of Engineering and Technology. He highlighted that Nguyen Tat Thanh University is the first non-public university to boldly invest millions in purchasing electric cars for student practical training. This not only demonstrates the university’s commitment to educational activities but also creates opportunities for students to engage with the development trends of the global automotive industry.

The VinFast VF8 electric car will be integrated into the teaching curriculum of the Electric and Smart Automotive Technology program, as well as research activities at the faculty. In addition to this, students from other programs, such as Mechatronics Engineering and Electrical & Electronic Engineering Technology, will also have the opportunity to practice with this intelligent electric vehicle.
