Three startup projects excellently win second prizes in the students with startup ideas contest organized by Ministry of Education and Training

NTTU – On March 25th and 26th, the 5th National Startup Festival for students 2023 was hosted by Hue University, under instructions of the Ministry of Education and Training, Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, and Hue Province.

The festival honorably received the participation of Mr. Pham Minh Chinh, Prime Minister; Mr. Nguyen Kim Son, Minister of Education and Training; Mr.  Nguyen Chi Dung, Minister of Plan and Investment, Mr. Le Truong Luu – Hue Provincial Party Secretary, Mr. Nguyen Minh Triet – Union Party Secretary, together with leaders of Ministries, Departments, and Hue Province, representatives of universities, high schools, businesses, investors, and thousands of pupils and students.

The festival included many activities, remarkably the final round of the students with startup ideas contest which was organized by the Ministry of Education and Training, implemented by Nova Edu JSC., UNIC, and Hue University. The contest aimed for encouraging and providing knowledge and skills on startups for pupils and students during their study at schools or universities. Participating the contest, Nguyen Tat Thanh University has three projects, including:

The project of applying black soldier flies to the circular agriculture – Fly Bio” by group students of Bien Cong Doan, Tran Tuan Kiet, Nguyen Minh Duy.

The project of SOFa products applied in the circular agricultural system by group students of Tran Vu Hoai An, Phan Van Hoai Lam, Huynh Qui Nguyet, Truong Ai Vy, instructed by Mr. Huynh Van Hieu – Lecturer of Biology Faculty.

The project of applying orange peel after extracting water in the production of essential oils, aromatic waxes, soaps, cosmetics and organic fertilizers by group students of Trinh Cong Qui, Pham Quynh Thuong, instructed by Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoai Thuong – Lecturer of Pharmacy Faculty.

Those three projects are being incubated by Nguyen Tat Thanh University Innovation Incubation Center, managed by Ms. Huynh Hong Mai – Deputy Manager of the Center, and mentored by Ms. Bui Thi Thuy Tien – CEO of Viet Startup Incubator, Dr. Tran Quy – Director of Vietnam Institute of Digital Economy Development.

Passing through many stressful and competitive rounds, those three projects excellently won the second prizes, encouraging and promoting the spirit of entrepreneurship and creativity for each student of Nguyen Tat Thanh University during their study at the university.

The students with creative ideas contest was launched since November 2022 with 508 projects registered in various fields, including industry, agriculture – forestry and fishery production, education, tourism, services, finance, healthcare, beauty technology, social impact businesses.

Also within the framework of the 5th National Startup Festival for Students with series of activities held at Hue University, the National Innovation Center (NIC), the Ministry of Planning and Investment cooperated with “Human Resources for Innovation – Startup Ecosystem” initiative funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bach Long Giang – Director of Nguyen Tat Thanh University Innovation Incubation Center received the decision of acceptance to be the member of the network of Innovation and Entrepreneurship Centers of universities and colleges.
