Representatives of the Library and Information Centre of Nguyen Tat Thanh University attended the 17th Conference of Vietnam Library Association

On 09^th August 2019, in Tuy Hoa, representatives of Library and Information Centre of Nguyen Tat Thanh University attended the 17^th Vietnam Library Association Conference hosted by National Agency for Science and Technology Information with theme “the Science and Technology Information Source”

Attending the Conference included Deputy Minister of Science and Technology – Mr. Bui The Huy; Mr. Tran Dac Hien, director of the National Agency for Science and Technology Information – Chairman of the Vietnam Library Association; Mr Le Van Cuu – Director of Science and Technology Department of Phu Yen Province and leaders of other provincial Science and Technology Departments, 130 representatives from 65 public libraries, the university libraries, specialized libraries and the information Centre throughout the country.

The conference attracted the participation of numerous national delegates in the field of library information

In his opening statement, Deputy Minister Bui The Duy emphasized: “This is the most meaningful conference and on the right track.” The Science and Technology Information Source is the important part of the National Science and Technology potentials; Research institutes and the Universities should invest more in this kind of Information”. At this conference, delegates heard of significant reports in library information field such as: Analyse new technology development trends affecting the activities of library and information by Director of the Association; presentation on analysis of research and innovation tendency in the context of industrial revolution 4.0 by representative of Elsevier; Representative of Springer Nature analysed research findings, research trend and collaboration between Vietnam and other countries worldwide; iGroup delegates presented technological solutions for Smart library, updated new functions on the database ProQuest Central mutually used by all members of the library association.

According to the statistics of the National Agency for Science and Technology Information in 2019, Nguyen Tat Thanh University is one of 14 institutions in the whole Association with the most number of uses of the ProQuest Central international database.

The Library and Information Centre of Nguyen Tat Thanh University is in the top 15 with the highest number of users using ProQuest Central database

Since 2013, the Library and Information Centre of Nguyen Tat Thanh University has been an official member of the Vietnam Library Association on Science and Technology Information. In recent years, Nguyen Tat Thanh University has still invested in modern facilities and equipment of its Information and Library Centre with 50,000 books, 3,000 computers serving more than 20,000 students and lecturers. The centre has been built development plan based on Learning Commons Model providing the best facilities to students, lecturers and researchers in the University.
