NTTU – The year 2023 concluded with remarkable achievements for the faculty and students of Nguyen Tat Thanh University, marking a year of success. The upcoming year of 2024 will also be the beginning of a series of activities celebrating the 25th anniversary of Nguyen Tat Thanh University.

In 2023, it can be said that Nguyen Tat Thanh University achieved remarkable success in its ranking efforts, as the university’s name appeared prominently in various rankings both nationally and internationally.

These include: Top 30% of the best universities in Asia (QS); Inclusion in the World University Rankings for Sustainability 2024 (QS Sustainability Ranking 2024); Presence in the Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (GRAS) 2023; 6th position in the 2023 Vietnam University Rankings for Academic Achievements (URAP); Maintaining the 4th position in the Webometrics rankings, among others.

Nguyen Tat Thanh University has appeared prominently in various rankings both nationally and internationally.

In 2023, Nguyen Tat Thanh University signed over 30 memoranda of understanding for cooperation with domestic agencies, businesses, and educational institutions. These agreements encompassed student internships, practical training, priority recruitment of Nguyen Tat Thanh University students, faculty exchanges, and scientific research collaboration.

In 2023, the Business Club of Nguyen Tat Thanh University celebrated its 11th anniversary with the “ambition” to expand its collaborative business ecosystem. According to Dr. Tran Ai Cam, the university president, the role of businesses within the university is crucial, especially in guiding the university’s development. The activities of the business club at this time not only involve awarding scholarships and providing internships for students but also aim to accompany the university in fostering an entrepreneurial spirit among students.

In 2023, NTT Business Club also celebrated its 11th anniversary.

The year 2023 was also a year of success for the specialized departments at Nguyen Tat Thanh University, as numerous training programs participated in accreditation and ranking processes, meeting the standards for both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Among them, 12 training programs met the accreditation standards according to Circular 04/2016 of the Ministry of Education and Training, including: Bachelor of Human Resource Management; Bachelor of Vietnamese Studies; Bachelor of Nursing; Bachelor of Electrical and Electronics Engineering; Bachelor of Oriental Studies; Bachelor of Music; Doctor of Preventive Medicine; Bachelor of Resource and Environmental Management; Bachelor of Interior Design; Master of Business Administration; Master of Finance and Banking; and Master of Tourism.

In 2023, a total of 12 training programs at Nguyen Tat Thanh University met the accreditation standards according to Circular 04/2016 of the Ministry of Education and Training.

Additionally, in 2023, 04 training programs at Nguyen Tat Thanh University were honored to receive stars from the Vietnam University and College Ranking System – UPM. These 04 programs include: Bachelor of Business Administration with 4 stars; Bachelor of Automotive Engineering with 5 stars; Bachelor of Food Technology with 5 stars; and Bachelor of Biotechnology with 5 stars.

The accreditation of training programs is one of the strategic objectives of the University in its efforts to ensure quality. This is a prerequisite for Nguyen Tat Thanh University to fulfill its commitment to making quality the center of its activities and to be accountable to society.

The entrepreneurial and innovative activities of students at Nguyen Tat Thanh University have never ceased to be “hot.” The year 2023 concluded with a series of resounding successes in this area, including student projects and technology transfer collaborations.

In the past year, Nguyen Tat Thanh University collaborated with the National Startup and Innovation Advisory Council, the Southern Advisory Council for Entrepreneurship Support, BK Holdings, and the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Science and Technology to successfully organize three entrepreneurship university workshops, two mentoring coaching training courses, a Train-the-Trainer (ToT) course for entrepreneurship and innovation education, resulting in 98 mentors, 32 ToT instructors for entrepreneurship and innovation training, and a network of 60 experts supporting the university’s entrepreneurship efforts. Additionally, the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Incubation Center at Nguyen Tat Thanh University recognized 23 projects from participating departments/faculties and provided funding for prototype development. It also registered 60 projects for entrepreneurship and innovation activities, participated in university, departmental, and national-level competitions, and continued incubating 30 projects by students and startups for participation in national and international startup competitions.

Moreover, Nguyen Tat Thanh University organized and collaborated in numerous entrepreneurship and innovation competitions, attracting over 215 projects and 2,000 students from 30 universities nationwide. Many of these projects were evaluated to have significant potential for development and practical application in economic, environmental, and production contexts. Examples include the “Aquabetle Plus: Productivity-enhancing product from banyan leaf extract” project by MEDILEAF students from Nguyen Tat Thanh University; the “LOTUSLEEP – Oral film for natural sleep support from lotus heart and Vietnamese herbs” project by VIOS students from the Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry; the “Nấm Bào Ngư HMG” project from Nguyen Tat Thanh University; and the “Q HAIR – Hair care product set” project by students from Nguyen Tat Thanh University.

In 2023, Nguyen Tat Thanh University achieved remarkable success in entrepreneurial and innovative activities, marking a year of brilliant accomplishments for both the faculty and students.

In April of this year, the Faculty of Pharmacy at Nguyen Tat Thanh University successfully transferred the technology for producing Comtido Pepper Tea from the project “Researching the potential and application of goldthread in the production of Comtido Pepper Tea” to Life Gift Vietnam Investment and Production Limited Company. This event laid the foundation for technology transfer for all research products of the Faculty of Pharmacy in general.

The Faculty of Pharmacy at Nguyen Tat Thanh University has successfully transferred a student research project to a business.

In addition to entrepreneurial and innovative activities, in 2023, Nguyen Tat Thanh University had over 550 scientific research projects conducted by faculty and students. As of December 2023, the university had recorded 15 state-level research projects, 14 Ministry-level (or equivalent) research projects (including projects at the municipal level, branch projects at the state level, and projects under the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Science and Technology’s Incubation Program), 163 university-level research projects, 353 student research projects, 5 international cooperation projects (3 projects funded by the Kurita Foundation in Japan, 2 projects funded by the International Foundation for Science in Sweden), and 2 projects funded by VinIF.

The scientific research activities have been widely disseminated from lecturers to students.

Furthermore, Nguyen Tat Thanh University has successfully registered 6 intellectual property rights, including 3 patents for inventions and 2 patents for utility solutions. In addition, the publications of lecturers and researchers at Nguyen Tat Thanh University have been internationally recognized in significant numbers: 606 publications in ISI/SCOPUS international journals, 292 publications in international and national scientific journals, and 389 publications in university-level journals, conference proceedings, and workshops.

It is evident that the scientific research activities of the lecturers and students at Nguyen Tat Thanh University have never shown signs of cooling down, as evidenced by the recognition from domestic and international organizations through numerous prestigious awards such as the Eureka Scientific Research Award for Students, the 2023 Science and Technology Award for Students, and reputable international journals indexed in ISI/SCOPUS.

The student awards at Nguyen Tat Thanh University in 2023 can be likened to a “rain” covering all fields, including academic activities, arts, sports, and more. Over the past year, students at Nguyen Tat Thanh University have continuously achieved outstanding results in academic competitions, scientific research, and entrepreneurship.

In the field of scientific research, for the first time, students at Nguyen Tat Thanh University successfully conquered the Eureka 2023 Scientific Research Award for Students, bringing home 1 first prize, 1 third prize, and 3 encouragement prizes. They also won 3 awards for the most voted posters and 1 award for the most voted “Science Story” video. Additionally, at the 2023 Science and Technology Awards for Students, a project by a student from Nguyen Tat Thanh University achieved second place.

For the first time, Nguyen Tat Thanh University had a student who achieved first place at the Eureka Student Scientific Research Award.

In the field of entrepreneurship and innovation, this can be considered as one of the most brilliant years for young startups, as they have won numerous awards at prestigious competitions. Some notable achievements include: First Prize and Third Prize at the Design Thinking Open Innovation 2023 competition; First Prize + Third Prize at the Student Entrepreneurship and Innovation Ideas 2023 competition; 03 Second Prizes at the Student Startup Ideas competition organized by the Ministry of Education and Training; and being in the Top 10 Enterprises in the Innovation and Startup Award – I-Star 2023 for Science and Technology.

In addition, students from Nguyen Tat Thanh University have also won numerous awards in academic, cultural, martial arts, and sports competitions, not only in Ho Chi Minh City but also nationwide. Some of these achievements include: First Place at the “Viet Stock Arena 2023 – National Stock Exchange Arena for Students”; Gold Medal + Silver Medal and 2 records at the 1st Taekwondo Student Tournament in Ho Chi Minh City in 2023; Third Place at the National Student Basketball Tournament 2023 (Southern Region); Third Place at the Hue-ICT Challenge 2023; 01 First Prize, 02 Second Prizes at the “Student – Sing – Shine” Singing Contest 2023; Second Place at the MTA Robot Challenge; Second Place at the Automatic Racing Car Programming Contest – EIU Microcontroller Car Rally (EIU MCR); First Place + Second Place at the Digital Business Contest for Students (Digital Business Contest); and many more.

In 2023, many students from Nguyen Tat Thanh University received numerous scholarships from universities and businesses both within and outside the country.

Former students also significantly contribute to establishing the brand of Nguyen Tat Thanh University on the map of Vietnam and the world.

In addition, in 2023, international students studying at Nguyen Tat Thanh University also achieved remarkable success.

One of the key objectives in implementing the development strategy of Nguyen Tat Thanh University for the 2020-2025 period, with a vision until 2023, is the internationalization of the university. This has been realized through diverse and innovative activities to engage with the international education community. Notably, in the past year, Nguyen Tat Thanh University became the first university in Vietnam to establish a satellite branch at Aomori Chuo Gakuin University (Japan), laying the foundation for sustainable development in the collaboration between the two institutions in terms of faculty and student exchange as well as scientific research cooperation.

Furthermore, the university has signed 08 MOUs with international partners in countries such as the UK, Australia, Japan, South Korea, Bulgaria, Laos, etc., for collaborative training programs. It also organizes faculty and student exchanges, as well as international seminars and cultural exchange programs.

Additionally, during the 2023-2024 academic year, the university admitted an additional 44 students from Laos and Cambodia. It also organized cultural exchange activities and facilitated exchanges between Nguyen Tat Thanh University and other universities worldwide. This not only enriches the cultural diversity of the university but also helps students gain confidence in English communication and acquire new knowledge.

Internationalization efforts at Nguyen Tat Thanh University are consistently prioritized and elevated.

Many international workshops are organized at Nguyen Tat Thanh University, attracting the participation of hundreds of scientists from around the world.

Student – centered principle is considered the guiding theory for Nguyen Tat Thanh University’s development. Over the past 24 years, the university has continuously invested in its infrastructure and teaching equipment to provide students with a dynamic, modern, and interconnected learning environment. Additionally, the university’s leadership and council have shown great care and guidance in providing students with a nurturing academic and personal environment.

In the past year, numerous extracurricular activities, scientific workshops, training sessions, and knowledge-sharing events have been regularly organized by various university organizations, attracting thousands of student participants. Furthermore, the university annually holds events such as the Freshmen Gala, health check-ups, Lunar New Year celebrations for students away from home, and awards ceremonies for top-performing students.

“Studying hard, playing hard” is the real-life experience of students at Nguyen Tat Thanh University when studying at the university.

In 2023, Nguyen Tat Thanh University had the honor of welcoming 1 Professor and 3 Associate Professors to join the intellectual community of the university. Specifically, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Tap, head of the Department of Healthcare Management, was reappointed as Professor in the field of Medicine for a term of 5 years (2023 – 2028). The 3 Associate Professor titles were awarded to: (1) Dr. Tran Viet Thang, specializing in Automation, Deputy Head of the Department of Science and Technology, and lecturer at the Faculty of Engineering Technology; (2) Dr. Le Thai Hoang, specializing in Biology, Lecturer and Researcher at the Institute of Applied Technology and Sustainable Development; (3) Dr. Nguyen Xuan Nhi, specializing in Business Administration, currently the head of the Department of Business Administration.

In 2023, Nguyen Tat Thanh University reappointed 1 Professor and newly appointed 3 Associate Professors.

With these new appointments, the total number of Professors and Associate Professors at the University has increased to 15 Professors and 53 Associate Professors. This expansion aims to affirm the quality of the university’s academic staff, enhancing the teaching and research activities of Nguyen Tat Thanh University. It is hoped that in the coming 5-year term, the newly appointed Professors and Associate Professors will fulfill their plans and make significant contributions to the university’s achievements in teaching, research, collaboration, and other academic activities.

The academic year 2023-2024 marks a significant and special occasion as Nguyen Tat Thanh University celebrates its 25th anniversary. Over the past quarter-century, the university has not only established its position as a prestigious institution named after the youthful revolutionary leader in the educational landscape of Vietnam and the world but has also become a trusted training ground, chosen by both parents and aspiring students.

In anticipation of the 25th anniversary of Nguyen Tat Thanh University (June 5, 1999 – June 5, 2024), the university is launching a series of events and activities to celebrate its traditional day. These include:

• • A conference to summarize Nguyen Tat Thanh University’s 25-year journey, themed “Aspiration and Development.”
  • A youth-led tree-planting campaign at the High-Tech Zone of Nguyen Tat Thanh University.
  • The establishment of the section “Ho Chi Minh’s Eternal Name” on the Student Union’s website.
  • A dialogue and exchange among progressive youth following President Ho Chi Minh’s teachings, involving those who have contributed to the university’s 25-year journey.
  • A reunion of former members of the Student Union from different periods, themed “Youth Union Day 2024.”
  • The creation of a cultural space dedicated to President Ho Chi Minh in front of the Student Union’s office.
  • A “Gen Z and Digital Transformation” week.
  • The completion of 20 projects to celebrate the university’s 25th anniversary.
  • An educational journey to learn about President Ho Chi Minh’s life and revolutionary career, themed “25 Proud Years, Continuing the Journey.”
  • A festival celebrating the university’s 25th anniversary, themed “NTTU Youth Festival 2024.”
  • Collaboration with localities in digital transformation and public administration.
  • A visit to the Metro railway for members of the Faculty and Staff Union and exemplary members of the Youth Union.
  • A job fair for union members and students from all levels.
  • Company visits and experiences for college and university students within the central agencies in Ho Chi Minh City.
  • Each Faculty Union and Faculty Student Union to organize an event celebrating the 25th anniversary for outstanding union members and students.
  • An inter-faculty sports competition.
  • The promotion of the section “NTTU Beautiful Stories.”
