Over 10,000 disadvantaged children enjoy Mid-Autumn with Nguyen Tat Thanh University
NTTU – From September 20th to September 30th, Students’ Youth Union, Students’ Clubs and Associations/Societies of Nguyen Tat Thanh University organized the Mid-Autumn Festival with special gifts to more than 10,000 disadvantaged children in 9 provinces and cities
Dozens of fundraising booths were set upTo prepare for the organization of the Mid-Autumn Festival for children in difficult circumstances, Students’ Youth Union, clubs and associations of the University organized booths selling products for fundraising. Products displayed and sold to raise funds include handmade keychains, handbags, stuffed animals, succulents, lanterns, etc. made by students to bring happiness for children this mid-autumn season.
Many donation activities such as setting up fundraising booths, making lanterns, organizing fundraising performances, call for donations from entreprises, lecturers, students, etc. had been conducted since the beginning of September 2023
Nguyen Thanh Tuan – Deputy Secretary of the Youth Union of the Faculty of Pharmacy said this is an extremely meaningful activity to bring children in remote areas and those living in difficult circumstances a fulfilling Mid-Autumn Festival. To prepare for the programme, in mid-September, the Youth Union started conducting a survey plan, contacting localities, organizing a fundraising booth and calling for sponsors to contribute. Thanh Tuan hopes that the Mid-Autumn Festival would be a very valuable experience for disadvantaged children.
In addition to the support from the Party Committee and Board of Presidents of Nguyen Tat Thanh University, funds for implementation were mobilized through fundraising booths, the “Lanterns made – Love shown” program, fundraising art performances,… and from benefactors, sponsors, union members, and students. The NTTU’s Youth Union and Unions of Students will organize the Mid-Autumn Festival and award gifts and scholarships to children.

From September 20th, the Youth Union, clubs and associations came to organize the Mid-Autumn Festival in many provinces and cities such as Ho Chi Minh City, Lam Dong, Soc Trang, Binh Phuoc, Dong Thap, Kien Giang, An Giang, Bac Lieu, ….
All preparations were urgently carried out by the students to bring children a valuable and cozy Mid-Autumn Festival
Ms. Nguyen Mai Thanh Truc – Deputy Secretary of the Youth Union of Nguyen Tat Thanh University said that bringing the Mid-Autumn Festival to poor children is one of the annual activities of the University’s Student Youth Union. The program annually receives the attention of a large number of students, because this is an opportunity for students not only to contribute to the community but also to demonstrate their abilities in many jobs such as: planning, budgeting, communication, external relations, human resources mangement, etc.
It was expected that 7,500 Mid-Autumn Festival gifts of moon cakes, lanterns, books, backpacks, milk,… would be presented directly to the children by NTTU’s Students. Additionally, the organizers also awarded 250 scholarships and gifts to children and students from deprived backgrounds.

The representative of Hoa Luu commune, Vi Thanh city (Hau Giang) – where many ethnic minorities live, of which 50% are poor households, Ms Vo Thi Thuy Bang – Deputy Secretary in charge of the Ho Chi Minh City Communist Youth Union of Vi Thanh city sent her sincere thanks to the Party Committee and Board of Presidents of Nguyen Tat Thanh University. Ms Bang said that the University’s support for disadvantaged children in the area not only brought a cozy and exhilarating Mid-Autumn Festival but also inspired them to be better, be obedient, study well, and become a useful person for their families and society.
This was the first time Nguyen Thi Sen had participated in organizing the Mid-Autumn Festival in Binh Thuan province. The student of class 22DKT2A majoring in Accounting said the trip was an extremely valuable and rewarding experience. This trip not only helped Sen learn a lot about working and living in groups but also boosted her confidence.
Students organized many entertainment activities for children
Bringing the Mid-Autumn Festival to disadvantaged children is an activity of great significance, helping thousands of children have a satisfying full moon season with lanterns and moon cakes. Especially, this is also an opportunity for students to dedicate their youth to the community and improve soft skills like planning skills, public speaking, social engagement, ect.
