Nguyen Tat Thanh University organized a specialized training session for the teams participating in the IoT Innovation Competition NTTU 2024.

NTTU – Over the course of 3 days, from January 16 to 19, 2024, at the Van Khanh Practice Workshop in District 12, Nguyen Tat Thanh University organized a training program for 22 teams participating in the “IoT Innovation NTTU 2024” competition, which the university hosted.

This training program is part of a series of professional support activities aimed at helping teams supplement their knowledge and enhance their digital transformation skills to achieve the best results in their competition projects and fully unleash their passion and creativity.

Attending the program from the company EoH were Mr. Dao Tran Bang – Chief Technology Officer, Mr. Luu Tran Minh Anh – Sales Director, and several technical experts from the company. From the company OhStem, Mr. Dang Thanh Tri – Chief Engineer of OhStem Education, and Mr. Nguyen Trung Truc – Program and Training Team Leader of OhStem Education. From Nguyen Tat Thanh University and the organizing committee of the IoT Innovation NTTU 2024 competition, there were the participation of Dr. Le Van An – Head of the Faculty of Engineering – Technology (Head of the organizing committee), and Dr. Tran Quang Huy – Deputy Head of the Faculty of Engineering – Technology (Deputy Head of the organizing committee).

Especially, the program also had full participation from the 22 teams representing 11 universities and colleges nationwide: Air Force Academy (3 teams); Industrial University (2 teams); University of Transport and Communications (1 team); Ton Duc Thang University (3 teams); Cao Thang Technical College (1 team); Binh Duong University (1 team); Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology – Hutech (1 team); Duy Tan University (1 team); Saigon International University (1 team); Van Lang University (1 team); and Nguyen Tat Thanh University (7 teams). As part of the benefits provided by the organizing committee for the participating teams, each team received sponsorship from Asus Vietnam Co., Ltd. for 01 Tinker Board for designing their projects; EoH Co., Ltd. for an E-ra account; and OhStem Co., Ltd. for a Yolo UNO kit.

The training program took place over 3 days to ensure quality and allow trainers to provide detailed guidance to each participant and team. The organizing committee divided the training sessions into two shifts each day: from 8:45 AM to 11:45 AM and from 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM.

During the training program, the first day focused on guiding the control of lights and reading button states on the ASUS Tinker board: introducing the hardware, guiding teams to install Tinker OS, practicing using the ASUS Tinker board on the IoT E-Ra platform, accessing IoT E-Ra to configure light control and read button states through the GPIO pins of the ASUS Tinker gateway.

The second day of training centered around supervising data with E-Ra: introducing the Yolo UNO kit peripheral communication board from OhStem, guiding participants on how to communicate and retrieve data from the kit to the ASUS Tinker gateway; programming on the ASUS Tinker gateway to communicate and retrieve sensor data from the Yolo UNO board to the IoT E-Ra platform; using the share permission feature and creating smart scenarios on the IoT E-Ra platform.

On the third day, the training covered how to connect Modbus devices to E-Ra: using the Modbus RTU library on the ASUS Tinker, using the E-Ra library to read sensors, and industrial expansion modules; communicating to retrieve data from electric meters, temperature and humidity sensors, and other expansion modules through Modbus RTU communication on the IoT E-Ra platform.

Through the professional support from reputable and professional partners such as EOH, Asus Aiot, and OhStem, Nguyen Tat Thanh University, as the organizer of the IoT Innovation NTTU 2024 competition, hopes to help the teams prepare as best as possible for the challenges in the competition stages and create high-quality IoT technology products with potential applications.

After the training session, the 22 teams will continue to refine their ideas and competition products to participate in the qualifying round of the competition scheduled for March 9, 2024. The teams will compete and present their ideas to qualify as one of the top 10 teams for the final round, which is expected to take place on March 30, 2024.
