Nguyen Tat Thanh University’s Journal first ranked Q3 by Scimago for computer science

With the strategic orientation of both academic training and scientific research development according to the domestic and international standards, Nguyen Tat Thanh University (NTTU) has continuously achieved great success in worldwide rankings.

Recently, according to the SCImago Journal Ranking, the Vietnam Journal of Computer Science (VJCS) of NTTU – a Vietnamese scientific journal in the field of computer science is ranked, for the first time, in the list of high ranked scientific journals (category Q3) by SCImago.

VJCS is a scientific journal of NTTU in cooperation with Springer Publisher since 2013 and World Scientific Publishing since 2019. This is considered an archival journal for academic research communities through high-quality scientific publications presenting innovative research methods, techniques, tools, practices and applications.

The journal focuses on the following themes: advances in applying computer science solutions and technologies for problem-solving in management, industrial, mechanical, administrative and educational challenges; value evaluation of the current AI system and technology; comparative studies; user experiences.

In Vietnam, SCImago is a prestigious ranking used by organizations such as the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Nafosted Foundation as one of the reference criteria for the assessment process.

SCImago is a research organization with a mission of providing information on the quality of scientific research by countries, research institutes, and the prestige of publishing journals through the analysis of indicators based on the Scopus database developed since 2004 by Elsevier – an academic publishing company from the Netherlands.

The quality of journals is evaluated by using the SJR (SCImago Journal Ranking) indicator, which takes into account both the number of citations received by a journal and the prestige of the journals where the citations come from. This index was developed by SCImago from the widely known algorithm Google PageRank™. Based on the SJR indicators, journals are classified into 4 categories including Q1, Q2, Q3, and Q4 according to research areas. The SJR is subject to change, depending on the results of the annual assessment.

Being ranked Q3 by SCImago evidences the University’s vision of becoming a research university with an academic reputation in Asia. Through research funds and updated policies for research in recent years, NTTU has achieved observable results which improve the academic reputation of the University in Vietnam and in the world.
