Nguyen Tat Thanh University Welcomes and Collaborates with the Director of the Nuclear Radiation Safety Department
NTTU – Recently, at the District 4 campus, Nguyen Tat Thanh University welcomed Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Tuan Khai – Director of the Nuclear Radiation Safety Department (Ministry of Science and Technology) for a visit and working session.
The delegation was received by Dr. Tran Ai Cam – President of Nguyen Tat Thanh University, Dr. Dang Thanh Luong – Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Associate Professor Dr. Bach Long Giang – Head of the Department of Science and Technology, and Master Le Huu Chau – Head of the Training Management Department, along with other faculty members from the Biomedical Engineering and Medical Physics departments.
Speaking at the meeting, Dr. Tran Ai Cam – President of Nguyen Tat Thanh University, expressed concerns about the training of Medical Physics in Vietnam. He explained that the field of Medical Physics has not yet found its place in the healthcare system, despite its crucial role in patient treatment. As a result, there is little interest from students and parents in studying this field, due to concerns about the effects of radiation exposure during practice and training.
Dr. Tran Ai Cam, the President of Nguyen Tat Thanh University, has always been concerned about the training of Medical Physics in Vietnam.
In agreement with Nguyen Tat Thanh University, Dr. Nguyen Tuan Khai, the Director of the Nuclear Radiation Safety Department, believes that there is a need to intensify professional training activities related to radiation, patient doses, staff doses, etc., with a focus on sustainable development of the radiation field.
Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Tuan Khai, the Director of the Nuclear Radiation Safety Department (Ministry of Science and Technology), highly appreciates the results achieved by Nguyen Tat Thanh University in the technical cooperation project VIE6030.
During the working session, Nguyen Tat Thanh University introduced its activities in training Medical Physics. So far, the university has provided hundreds of Medical Physics technicians to hospitals and centers, fully meeting the professional, skills, and work attitude requirements. It can be said that this is the initial achievement of Nguyen Tat Thanh University and the IAEA in the technical cooperation project VIE6030: “Developing Medical Physics education and training programs for Vietnam.”
Nguyen Tat Thanh University presented its Medical Physics training program, inviting feedback and addressing any remaining issues or concerns.
Through the working session, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Tuan Khai, the Director of the Nuclear Radiation Safety Department (Ministry of Science and Technology), acknowledged the opinions of Nguyen Tat Thanh University regarding the development of the Medical Physics field in particular and the nuclear field in general. He then proposed and directed solutions based on these discussions.
Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Tuan Khai, the Director of the Nuclear Radiation Safety Department (Ministry of Science and Technology), visited the practical laboratory system built by Nguyen Tat Thanh University with the support of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
Nguyen Tat Thanh University is the first university in Vietnam to be permitted to train in the field of Medical Physics. Over the years, the university has continuously equipped itself with modern machinery, equipment, and enhanced the quality of training and faculty. To date, Nguyen Tat Thanh University possesses internationally standardized laboratories and the most complete equipment in Vietnam, built with the support of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). Additionally, the university places a strong emphasis on equipping students with language skills, computer skills, communication skills, teamwork skills, etc., providing optimal conditions for students in their learning, research, and accessing domestic and international materials, facilitating easy integration into the working environment after graduation.
