Nguyen Tat Thanh University to attend the General Assembly of Agence universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF)

On September 21, 2021 (14:00 on the same day at the Polytechnic University of Bucharest), Bucharest, Romania, the opening ceremony of the 18th AUF General Assembly was held (once every 4 year). The event took place from September 21 to 24, 2021 at the same time in person at the Polytechnic University of Bucharest and parallel to the online meeting through a secured digital platform.

The event consists of 3 main activities, namely AUF’s summary of activities in the period of 4 years 2017-2021; Approval of the 2021-2025 Strategy; and Election of new council members (dedicated members only). The current President of the AUF Council is Prof Sorin-Mihai Cimpeanu, Minister of the Ministry of Romania Education, term of 2017-2021. The election session will be attended by many delegates from various regions around the world. Representatives of the Asia-Pacific region on the AUF Board of Directors include Prof. Dr. Le Quan, President of Vietnam National University, Hanoi (preparatory candidate: Dr. Men Chandevy, Cambodia Institute of Technology) and Dr. Cao Anh Tuan, Vice President of Ho Chi Minh City University of Education. Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam (Preparatory candidate: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Hiep, President of Pham Ngoc Thach Medical University).

Representatives of Nguyen Tat Thanh University attended the opening sessions and other sessions such as report and approval of the activity results, announcement of the white list on the French Scientific Community and the 2021-2025 Strategy in the evening of September 2021 through an online platform.

Delegates attending the 18th AUF General Assembly

On September 22, the University attended the Closing Ceremony and the 60th anniversary of AUF’s establishment, including announcement of the election results of the new AUF President and Board of Directors for the upcoming term.

Participation in the 18th General Assembly shows the commitment of Nguyen Tat Thanh University in not only academic development but also efforts to expand links with universities around the world.

The General Assembly is the highest authority of the AUF (Agence universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF)), which is held once every four year.

The General Assembly (AG) brings together all members to propose common policies and the main directions of the AUF. The General Assembly also aims to approve the activity reports of the previous periods, and to elect the President and members of the AUF Board of Directors.

Member institutions as dedicated members (titulaire) are allowed to vote. Member institutions as associate members (associé) are allowed to contribute ideas.

The General Assembly is one of the very few university forums in the world with more than 1,000 members from more than 120 countries. The General Assembly is one of many great opportunities for universities to connect, exchange and share best practices in higher education.
