Nguyen Tat Thanh University strengthens strategic partnership with the Adelaide University (Australia) in clinical simulation training for Health Sciences
NTTU – A delegation from NTTU recently paid a working visit to the Clinical Simulation Centre at the University of Adelaide, Australia — the only simulation centre in Australia to hold dual accreditation from the Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH) in both education and research.

The working session brought together senior representatives from both institutions. The University of Adelaide was represented by Ms. Lori Hocking, Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Global Partnerships; Prof. Tobby Hughes, Head of International of the Faculty of Dentistry; Prof. Adam Montagu, Director of the Clinical Simulation Centre; Prof. Amanda Page, representing the Health Sciences division; and Ms. Asa Hodken, International Relations Officer. On the NTTU side, the delegation comprised Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Lan Phuong, Vice-Rector, and Dr. Luu Nguyen Duc Hanh, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Nursing and Deputy Head of the International Relations Office.
The NTTU delegation tours the clinical simulation practice area with experts from the University of Adelaide’s Clinical Simulation Centre.
More than a diplomatic visit, the trip served as a practical opportunity for the delegation to study and learn first-hand from some of the world’s most advanced clinical simulation training models and experiences.
Through direct working sessions, the delegation focused on understanding how the centre operates, how learning spaces are managed and optimised, and the strategies used to deliver simulation-based practice. These advanced learning models give lecturers and students direct exposure to internationally standardised procedures, supporting the broader goal of delivering safer and more effective patient care.
In addition to studying the simulation models, the delegation undertook a field visit to the Royal Adelaide Hospital — the largest medical research and training centre in South Australia. This experience marks an important step toward comprehensively upgrading the University’s teaching facilities and enhancing graduate outcomes for the Faculty of Nursing in particular, and for the Health Sciences disciplines as a whole.
Future Cooperation Prospects
Through the discussions, the two institutions agreed on a long-term cooperation framework centred on:
- Training and exchange: Establishing short-term summer student exchange programs, or a 2+2 joint dual-degree model with the potential to progress toward a 4+0 model.
- Educational transfer and advisory support: The University of Adelaide is ready to provide in-depth consultancy, host NTTU lecturers for clinical simulation skills training in Australia, or send experts directly to Vietnam to help develop high-quality human resources in medical simulation training.

The visit once again affirms NTTU’s commitment to continuously improving educational quality and empowering its Health Sciences students to integrate confidently into the international arena.
