Nguyen Tat Thanh University maintains top 5 position among Vietnamese Universities in THE WUR 2027
NTTU – On September 30, Times Higher Education (THE) released its 2027 World University Rankings. According to the results, Nguyen Tat Thanh University continues to be featured in this prestigious ranking.

Maintaining 5th Place in Vietnam
According to the THE World University Rankings 2027 (THE WUR) results, Nguyen Tat Thanh University was placed in the 1201–1400 band globally, while continuing to hold 5th position in Vietnam. Sustaining this presence in an increasingly competitive landscape is clear evidence of the university’s solid academic foundation and stable development strategy.
This result is especially notable given the continued expansion of THE WUR’s scope. THE reported that the 2027 edition spans 118 countries and territories and applies a more detailed band system than the previous cycle. This expanded scale allows for a clearer picture of where higher education institutions stand globally.
Research quality remains a standout strength
The academic strengths that define Nguyen Tat Thanh University’s international standing rest on two foundations: research quality and interdisciplinary academic capacity.
One of the standout results in THE WUR 2027 is the university’s Research Quality score of 68 points, the highest among its five evaluated pillars. This builds on NTTU’s track record in previous cycles, when Research Quality once ranked #481 in the world, placing the university in the global top 25%. On this foundation, the university continues to promote scientific publications in the ISI/Scopus system, strengthen the influence and citation rate of its research output, and expand international research collaboration — all of which increase the academic value and practical applicability of its research results.
Under the 2027 ranking methodology, THE evaluates research universities using 17 performance indicators across 5 pillars: Teaching, Research Environment, Research Quality, International Outlook, and Industry. Research Quality carries the largest weight at 30%, followed by Teaching at 29.5%, Research Environment at 29%, International Outlook at 7.5%, and Industry at 4%.
Alongside its research foundation, Nguyen Tat Thanh University’s academic capacity has developed along a multidisciplinary path, connecting health sciences, life sciences, engineering and technology, and many other fields of study. This cross-disciplinary approach allows the university to advance interdisciplinary research, broaden the practical application of knowledge, and train human resources suited to the increasingly diverse demands of the labor market. This capacity is also reflected in the THE World University Rankings by Subject 2026 results, in which three of NTTU’s academic fields were recognized on the world rankings:
-
- Medical & Health: Ranked in the 501–600 band globally and holds 2nd place in Vietnam, reflecting NTTU’s academic standing in the health sciences.
- Life Sciences: Placed in the 601–800 band globally and ranked #2 in Vietnam, affirming the university’s capacity to apply biotechnology and environmental science to real-world needs.
- Engineering: Featured in the 801–1,000 band globally (Top 4 in Vietnam), meeting the demand for highly skilled technical talent in the era of digital transformation and automation.

Putting learners at the center remains NTTU’s guiding principle as it continues to innovate and affirm the quality of its training
Standardizing quality, elevating standing
Alongside its rising position in international rankings, Nguyen Tat Thanh University continually improves the quality of its training and learning environment, creating practical value for its learners. In this journey, the university concentrates its resources on three strategic commitments:
-
- Standardizing international accreditation: A wide range of training programs have earned quality accreditation certification under the standards of the Ministry of Education and Training, AUN-QA (Southeast Asia), and FIBAA (Europe).
- Connecting with business practice: Effectively operating the “University – Enterprise – Management – Science” model, linking a network of thousands of businesses, corporations, and major hospitals, and ensuring students gain early professional practice — with a job-referral rate for graduates reaching up to 100%.
- A standardized learning environment: Investing in modern facilities, laboratories, practice rooms, and learning spaces, while accelerating digital transformation in training to create a dynamic, creative learning environment that helps students comprehensively develop their knowledge, skills, and adaptability to labor-market demands.
Commenting on the ranking results, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Kim Hong, President of Nguyen Tat Thanh University, noted that shifts in ranking position from one cycle to the next give the university an objective basis for assessing its achievements while identifying indicators that still need improvement. Given the continued expansion of THE WUR and the intensifying competition among higher education institutions worldwide, the university sees participation in international rankings not only as a way to affirm its standing, but also as a reference tool for ongoing quality improvement. On this foundation, NTTU remains committed to its direction as a multidisciplinary, applied university, with a focus on training quality, research capacity, integration capability, and the practical value it delivers to learners, businesses, and the community.
By holding a leading position nationwide, having multiple fields of study ranked among the world’s best, and remaining true to its philosophy of “Real Learning – Real Success – Real Prestige – Real Future,” Nguyen Tat Thanh University continues to affirm its pioneering role within Vietnam’s higher education system and on the international stage.
