Nguyen Tat Thanh University continues to make its international mark with a top 300 global position in the THE Sustainability Impact Ratings 2026

NTTU – On June 24, 2026, Times Higher Education (THE) officially released the THE Sustainability Impact Ratings 2026 — the global ranking that measures universities’ contributions to the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Nguyen Tat Thanh University (NTTU) made an outstanding climb into the 201–300 band of educational institutions worldwide, its highest score since it began participating in the ranking.

A New Milestone for the Ranking and NTTU’s Standing

The year 2026 marked a significant turning point as THE officially renamed the ranking from THE Impact Rankings to THE Sustainability Impact Ratings, while also launching the international Sustainability Impact Network. With 1,646 universities from 116 countries and territories taking part, this year’s ranking focused on institutions with independently verified commitments to sustainable development — considerably raising the quality and representativeness of the entire evaluation system. Vietnam alone had 17 universities participate — up from 16 in 2025, reflecting the strong momentum of Vietnamese higher education on its journey toward international integration in sustainable development.

At the regional level, Asia continued to affirm its leading role, with 25 ASEAN universities placing in the global Top 200 — a remarkable share compared with the region’s standing in traditional academic rankings. ASEAN as a whole contributed 352 universities out of the more than 1,646 institutions taking part this year, a sign of the increasingly fierce competition coming from the region itself.
Against this backdrop, NTTU rose into the 201–300 global band, ranking second among the 17 Vietnamese universities in the ranking — a reflection of the University’s steady, consistent efforts and its well-directed sustainable development strategy.

Standout Results by SDG

Under THE’s ranking methodology, the overall score is calculated from SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals — weighted at 22%) plus the three highest-scoring SDGs (each weighted at 26%). NTTU recorded notable achievements across the following goals:

SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals: NTTU’s standout strength, with a score of 90.9, ranking 71st in the world (out of 1,610 universities). Its SDG-reporting publication indicator earned a perfect 100 points, and its partnerships supporting the SDGs rose sharply to 93.3 — placing NTTU among the world’s leaders on this most important mandatory criterion.
● SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-Being: The 101–200 global band (out of 1,254 universities). Building on the strengths of its Faculty of Medicine and its community health-care focus, the University reaffirms its commitment to training medical professionals and conducting biomedical research in service of the community.
● SDG 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth: The 101–200 global band (out of 1,003 universities), maintaining its strong standing for a second consecutive year and reflecting the effectiveness of education closely tied to business practice.
● SDG 4 – Quality Education: The 201–300 global band — sustaining its upward momentum after a major leap from the 1001–1500 band in 2024, clearly reflecting efforts in curriculum innovation and international accreditation.
● SDG 10 – Reduced Inequalities: Advancing into the 401–600 global band (up from the 601–800 band in 2025), demonstrating efforts to build a fairer and more inclusive educational environment.

Affirming Its Standing Across Multiple International Rankings

Alongside its THE Sustainability Impact Ratings 2026 result, on June 16, 2026, U.S. News & World Report officially released the Best Global Universities Rankings 2026–2027, featuring 2,250 higher-education institutions from more than 100 countries. Nguyen Tat Thanh University achieved an outstanding 849th place worldwide, ranking third among the 11 Vietnamese universities featured in this prestigious ranking. This is the second consecutive year NTTU has been honored in the U.S. News ranking — confirming that the University’s international stature is recognized by many of the world’s leading independent evaluation organizations.

A Persistent Journey, Guided by a Human-Centered Vision

Since first joining the THE Impact Rankings in 2024, Nguyen Tat Thanh University has steadily improved its score with each cycle and has increasingly broadened the scope of its contributions to global sustainable development goals. THE Sustainability Impact Ratings is the only global university ranking that assesses institutions across all 17 of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, measuring performance comprehensively across four areas: research, resource stewardship, community engagement, and teaching. According to a THE survey, 85% of member institutions believe that taking part in the ranking helps enhance their reputation, and more than half confirm that it is the best evidence of their commitment to sustainable development.
