Korea Foundation awards scholarships for excellent students of Nguyen Tat Thanh University

On August 10, 2022 at Nguyen Tat Thanh University (NTTU), the Korea Foundation awarded the Samsung-KF Scholarship to students majoring in Korean language, Faculty of Foreign Languages. The scholarship recipients were chosen based on several criteria including outstanding Korean language competency, moral values, and active participation in extracurricular activities.

From the Korea Foundation, there was the presence of Mr. Lee Jong Kook – Executive Vice President, Mr. Choi Jae Jin – Director, The Korea Foundation Hanoi Office; Mr. Yoon Chang Sik – Director, Korean Studies Department; Ms. Kim Mi Na – Program Officer, Korean Studies Department.

From Nguyen Tat Thanh University, Dr. Tran Thien Luu – Vice President; Dr. Nguyen Thi Nguyet Anh – Dean, Faculty of Foreign Languages; Mr. Le Quang Khanh – Manager, Department of International Relations and more than 100 students from Faculty of Foreign Languages participated in the award ceremony

Esteemed delegates at the scholarship award ceremony

Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Tran Thien Luu sent an appreciation to the Korea Foundation for providing the KF-Samsung Scholarship Fund to NTTU’s students majoring in Korean Language. The KF-Samsung funding makes a great contribution to the development of the Department of Korean Language, as well as encouraging NTTU students to study harder to achieve higher academic achievements in the future.

The Korea Foundation has provided the KF-Samsung Scholarship fund to NTTU for 5 years with a total of 5 scholarships awarded annually starting from 2020 to 2024 with a total value of 6,250 USD. The Foundation also offers lecture room renovation grant in the amount of 27,000USD.

This time, the Korea Foundation awarded 10 scholarships worth 250 USD each for 9 scholarship awardees for the years of 2020 and 2021, a bit postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Mr. Lee Jong Kook – Executive Vice President of the Korea Foundation thanked NTTU’s delegates from the Board of Presidents, Faculty of Foreign Language for their dedication to prepare for the award ceremony. He also sent the most sincere encouragement to all students who always focus on studying to pursue their dreams in the future. He shared that: “I hope you will consider receiving the KF-Samsung scholarship as a pride and continue to study hard, constantly developing yourself  to become a global talent. The KF-Samsung scholarship has a special meaning, especially in the current context of facilitating the construction of smart classrooms to improve the learning environment for students majoring in Korean studies. I hope that today’s scholarship award ceremony will serve as a contributor to the expansion of Korean education and research in Korean studies at Nguyen Tat Thanh University.”

Mr. Lee Jong Kook – Executive Vice President of the Korea Foundation sent his congratulations and encouragement to all the awardees.

On behalf of 10 scholarship awardees, Tran Thi Thanh Truc thanked the KF-Samsung Scholarship fund, Faculty of Foreign Languages for providing her an opportunity to receive this valuable scholarship. She further shared that: “I’ll strive to achieve higher academic performances to become a contributor for social development in the future, not to disappoint those who have always assisted me, as well as the support from the Korea Foundation”.

KF-Samsung scholarship is one of the projects aimed to promote the development of Vietnamese society that Samsung Electronics, in collaboration with the Korea Foundation, has implemented to provide financial support for student adaptation to university education and skill enhancement of future generations.
