Final round of “2022 Design Thinking Camp for young generation” contest takes place

NTTU – On October 14th, 2022, at the A801 Hall of Nguyen Tat Thanh University (300A Nguyen Tat Thanh Ward 13, District 4 HCMC), the Innovation and Incubation Center in cooperation with Nguyen Tat Thanh University Student Union, Innovative Design Thinking Village, the HCMC Department of Science and Technology held the final round of the “2022 Design Thinking Camp for young generation” contest to celebrate the Innovation and Digital Transformation Week in Ho Chi Minh City (WHISE 2022).

Representatives of Nguyen Tat Thanh University were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi Hong – Vice President; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bach Long Giang – Director of the Innovation and Incubation Center; MSc. Huynh Hong Mai – Deputy Director of the Innovation and Incubation Center; MSc. Nguyen Thi Thu Thao – Secretary of the Youth Union cum Standing Deputy Manager of the Department of Student Affairs; MSc. Bui Quang Trung – Manager of Communication Department; together with lecturers and staff from departments, faculties, institutes, centers, startups project advisors, and students from TOP 7 excellent projects entering in the final round.

The contest, which was promoted and opened for registration from August 15, 2022, attracted many participating projects with creative and unique ideas. From the preliminary round, the judges selected the TOP 20 excellent projects for the semi-final, then 07 projects selected for the final round. Before the finale, the Innovation and Incubation Center organized skills training sessions on Design Thinking for the participating teams, as a result, the NTTU project teams were able to apply the theories to perfect their products and business models, along with improving important factors to attract investors in decision-making and final investments. In particular, the competition teams were also facilitated by the Organizing Committee to connect with experienced Mentors for supports not only to successfully compete in the competition but also to advance the project, commercialize project products.

The judges for the final round were qualified experts in the field of entrepreneurship, including Dr. Pham Hong Quat – Director of Science and Technology Enterprise – Market Development Department​​, MSc. Speaking at the opening ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi Hong – Vice President of Nguyen Tat Thanh University sent her sincere thanks to the partners who supported and accompanied the contest, and congratulated to the TOP 7 excellent projects entering in the final round, wishing the projects will succeed in the competition, achieve high prizes, and make their entrepreneurial dreams come true in the future.

The teams presented their projects and answered questions from the judges. In the end, the first prize came to the DT22-GOF team from Nguyen Tat Thanh University and University of Natural Resources and Environment; the second prizes came to the DT2-ALGAE team from Nguyen Tat Thanh University and University of Natural Resources & Environment and the DT3-Brocvia team from Thu Dau Mot University; the third prizes came to the DT23 – Q team from Nguyen Tat Thanh University, the DT4 team from Moc Tinh Sac Company, the DT10 team – Glenda from Nguyen Tat Thanh University, and the DT19-TIA BIO team from Nguyen Tat Thanh University.

 

With the desire to expand community networks, share values, develop ideas into feasible research projects under the professional consultation of experts to transfer into successful startups, Nguyen Tat Thanh University and Innovative Design Thinking Village believe that the contest will help young generation, as well as startup leaders develop their mindsets and maximize creativity, thereby contributing to the development of startup ecosystem in Vietnam.
