Faculty of Finance and Accounting towards sustainable development with 17 UN goals
NTTU – The Faculty’s activities have also been highly appreciated by UPM (University Performance Metrics) during the review process for 4-star certification for two bachelor’s degree programs in Finance – Banking and Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
The Faculty of Finance – Accounting, in addition to making continuous efforts to train students to become quality personnel for the society, also always directs them to become good citizens, carrying in them the spirit of community service. The 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set out by the United Nations are aimed at ending poverty, protecting the planet and ensuring that everyone enjoys peace and prosperity by 2030 in each Member State. To concretize these goals, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 681/QD-TTg to concretize the implementation of sustainable development goals in Vietnam by 2030. Considering the practical significance According to the practice of SDGs, Faculty of Finance and Accounting Nguyen Tat Thanh University considers this set of goals to be the “guideline” to help the Faculty as well as its students to develop comprehensive capacity, have sufficient quality for international integration. The activities of faculty and students of the Faculty have step by step towards the SDGs.
In the contest “Startup ideas – Innovation NTTU STARTUP 2020″ organized by Nguyen Tat Thanh University, Future NTTU Breakout Team consisting of four students majoring in Finance – Banking represented the Faculty to participate in the competition. . With the encouragement and guidance of the Faculty’s lecturers, towards the 17 sustainable development criteria of the United Nations, the students concretized that orientation by participating and winning the second prize in the final with the project ” Blue and Green”, established a non-profit tree planting experience farm. All profits of the project will contribute to community projects related to children, while spreading the spirit of environmental protection and community service.

Another very meaningful activity from the staff of the Faculty of Finance – Accounting was when the COVID-19 pandemic started breaking out in Ho Chi Minh City in May 2021, news about the students of the Health Division of Nguyen Tat Thanh University volunteers to participate in anti-epidemic activities with difficulties are continuously sent to the University. The rapid outbreak of the epidemic has caused overcrowding for volunteers, with some friends fainting during their work. A series of “calls for help” sent to their lecturers about the shortage of medical supplies and protective gear. Facing the “bad” information constantly sent to the University, the staff and lecturers of the Faculty of Finance – Accounting could not help but feel pity and worry for the volunteer students. Faculty’s lecturers began to discuss ways to help the students. The staff – lecturers contacted the JCI East Saigon Branch, under JCI Vietnam, the Club of the Young Entrepreneurs Association in Ho Chi Minh City (YBA), opened the Campaign “Silent Contributions” with the desire to contribute a part to support medical supplies to students of Nguyen Tat Thanh University who are working as volunteers to fight the epidemic in Ho Chi Minh City. As a result, 150 masks, 150 protective shields, 7 boxes of hand sanitizer (24 bottles/carton) were given to the children through the Youth Union and Student Union of the University.
The Faculty of Finance and Accounting together with sponsors and representatives of the Youth Union and Student Union of Nguyen Tat Thanh University support materials for students volunteering to fight the epidemic in the city.
With a positive achievement in the contest “Start-up Ideas – Innovation NTTU STARTUP 2020”, the project idea meets the target number 15 on protecting, regenerating and encouraging the sustainable use of natural resources. terrestrial ecosystems, sustainable forest resource management, combating desertification, preventing soil erosion and biodiversity loss. Particularly, the association with JCI East Saigon is consistent with the third goal: ensuring a healthy life and promoting happiness for everyone. The Faculty hopes to spread the spirit of sustainable development with 17 United Nations goals (SDGs) in the student community of Faculty of Finance and Accounting in particular, and students of Nguyen Tat Thanh University in general.
