The Faculty of Dentistry at Nguyen Tat Thanh University (NTTU) has once again distinguished itself on the international academic stage, as MSc. Dr. Do Thi Ngoc Anh earned Second Place in the Clinical Research category at the E-Poster Forum of the 47th Asia Pacific Dental Congress (APDC 2026) — reflecting both the research capabilities of NTTU’s young faculty and the Faculty’s commitment to innovation and global academic engagement.

APDC 2026: A Landmark International Dental Conference — Held in Vietnam for the First Time
Held under the theme “Integrating Scientific Advances into Dental Practice” and organized with the support of APDF/APRO (the Asia Pacific Dental Federation / Asia Pacific Regional Organization), the 47th Asia Pacific Dental Congress is one of the most prestigious academic gatherings in dentistry across the Asia-Pacific region. The congress serves as a platform for specialists, researchers, and dental practitioners from across the world to exchange knowledge, share clinical experiences, and explore emerging technologies reshaping modern dentistry.
Of particular significance, this edition marked the first time APDC has been held in Vietnam. The congress was co-organized alongside the 2nd Hanoi International Dental Science Conference and Exhibition (HAIDEC 2026), bringing together over 100 scientific presentations, more than 8,000 delegates, and upwards of 400 exhibition booths — making it one of the most significant dental science and technology events in the region.
In her opening remarks, Dr. Arleen Reyes-Reyes, DMD, MPHA, FICD, FICP, President of APDF/APRO, underscored the remarkable pace of progress transforming dentistry today. Artificial intelligence, she noted, is driving sweeping changes across the field — from supporting radiographic image analysis and improving diagnostic accuracy, to enhancing treatment planning in dentistry, dental implantology, and digital dentistry. AI is enabling clinicians to deliver more precise, efficient, and personalized patient care. At the same time, Dr. Reyes-Reyes emphasized that amid these technological advances, dentistry remains fundamentally human. No algorithm can replace clinical judgment, compassion, ethical responsibility, or empathy — the values that define a true healthcare professional. Scientific progress will continue to strengthen professional capability, but it is the wisdom, humanity, and integrity of the practitioner that ultimately ensures the quality of patient care.
NTTU’s Faculty of Dentistry’s participation in a forum of this scale reflects its strategic direction: advancing research output, integrating new technologies, strengthening international collaboration, and aligning its educational approach with contemporary trends in dental training and professional practice.

NTTU Faculty Member Wins Award for AI Research in Dentistry
At the E-Poster Forum, MSc. Dr. Do Thi Ngoc Anh was awarded Second Place in the Clinical Research category by an international panel evaluating submissions on scientific quality, innovation, and clinical applicability. Her research explored the use of AI models to support decision-making on premolar extraction in orthodontic treatment, drawing on clinical data and lateral cephalometric radiographs — a timely contribution to the field of evidence-based, digitally-driven dentistry.
The achievement highlights the academic culture the Faculty has been building: one that encourages faculty and students alike to pursue research, engage with new technologies, and connect with professional communities beyond the classroom.

Delegates from NTTU who attended the congress gained firsthand exposure to the latest developments in digital dentistry, AI-assisted diagnosis, and oral rehabilitation technologies — experiences that directly inform how the Faculty approaches teaching and curriculum development.
As the dental profession evolves rapidly alongside digital transformation, preparing graduates with clinical expertise, technological adaptability, and a global perspective has become a central priority for health science education at NTTU.
