English Speaking Contest 2022 at Nguyen Tat Thanh University reaches Finale
NTTU – After nearly one month of competition, passing many preliminary and semi-final rounds of the English Speaking Contest 2022, four teams successfully entered in the final round taken place in the evening of October 7th, 2022 at the main campus of Nguyen Tat Thanh University.
The English Speaking Contest 2022 hosted by the Foreign Languages Center of Nguyen Tat Thanh University create a useful academic playground for all students to perform their English proficiency, gain more knowledge, enhance their strengths, practice self-confidence and bravery, improve professional knowledge, and expand career opportunities. The contest also provides students with knowledge and skills to use English in reality, being able to join in a competitive and international integration environment, and demonstrate the main goal of Nguyen Tat Thanh University to create generations of global students, meeting requirements of the 4.0 era.
Participating in the Finale from the Foreign Languages Center of Nguyen Tat Thanh University were Dr. Huynh Tan – Director, Mr. Tran Huy Thach – Vice Director. The judges included Mr. Grant Trew – Former Teacher, Trainer of Oxford University Press, Education Director of Dai Truong Phat Education JSC; Mr. Ho Kinh Dat, IELTS Training expert, alumni of the National University of Singapore majoring in English Language; Ms. Phoebe Tran – Regional Director of Crimson Global Group, moderator of VTV7’s IELTS FACE-OFF program. Especially, the presence of 15 candidates from 04 groups (NIIE, ROOKIE DEBATERS, AVENGERS, MEDICAL TEAM), together with students and lecturers participated.

Giving the opening address, Dr. Huynh Tan – Director of the Foreign Language Center of Nguyen Tat Thanh University, Head of the Organizing Committee of the contest, sent his sincere thanks to DATIO Company, Crimson Vietnam, and the sponsor of Dai Truong Phat Education JSC. Dr. Tan also sent his big congratulations to 15 candidates from 4 teams who have passed many rounds to enter in the final round. With the responsibility of developing and improving the English proficiency for students, Dr. Tan hoped that the contest would help students of Nguyen Tat Thanh University to perform their English debating skills and enhance soft skills, as well as encourage students to learn English to be well-prepared for the international integration.
To be in the final round, the four best teams overcame a very stressful and competitive journey from the preliminary round with 95 students to the semi-finals with 41 students from 14 groups, showing confidence and solidarity among members to complete their contest. At the final round, four teams participated in two stressful competitions. 
The first-prize winner came to the NIIE team (including: Ma Hoang Khoi, Nguyen Thai Minh Thien, Tran Ngoc Phuong Trang) with the prize of 20,000,000 VND, in which 10,000,000 VND in cash and an IELTS studying voucher worth 10,000,000 VND.
The second prize came to the ROOKIE DEBATERS team (including: Nguyen Le Minh Duc, Nguyen Cam Linh, Le Duc Manh) with the prize of 11,000,000 VND, in which 4,000,000 VND in cash and an IELTS studying voucher worth 7,000,000 VND.
The third prize came to the AVENGERS team (including: Bui Nguyen Minh Tuan, Nguyen Dang Pha Le, Nguyen Phu Tan) with a prize of VND 8,000,000, in which 3,000,000 VND in cash and an IELTS studying voucher worth 5,000,000 VND.
The consolation prize came to the MEDICAL team (including: Nguyen Quoc Son, Nguyen Thi Ngoc Bich, Pham Nguyen Duy Dan) with a prize of VND 5,000,000, in which 2,000,000 VND in cash and an IELTS studying voucher worth 3,000,000 VND.
Furthermore, 12 candidates from 4 teams entering in the final round received a full scholarship to study in Thailand for one week. Particularly, the NIIE team also won the People’s Choice Award with the prize of 2,000,000 VND, in which 1,000,000 VND in cash and an IELTS studying voucher worth 1,000,000 VND.
