Nguyen Tat Thanh University awards nearly 12 billion VND in scholarships to 70 high schools at STEM Festival in Dong Thap Province

NTTU – Recently, the largest STEM festival in the Mekong Delta officially took place at Dong Thap University, attracting thousands of students, teachers, and educators. The event was organized by Nguyen Tat Thanh University in collaboration with Giáo dục và Thời đại Newspaper, aiming to promote a spirit of innovation and ignite a passion for science within the educational community.

The event brought together around 3,500 staff members, teachers, and students from 70 high schools across six provinces and cities: Cần Thơ, Hậu Giang, Sóc Trăng, An Giang, Vĩnh Long, and Đồng Tháp. With nearly 40 exhibition booths from educational institutions and businesses, the festival offered a variety of engaging activities, allowing students to explore and experience the practical applications of STEM in everyday life.

On behalf of NTTU, Dr. Trần Ái Cầm, President, emphasized the importance of STEM education in the context of rapid technological advancement and global integration. She reaffirmed the university’s commitment to continuously innovating its academic programs, heavily investing in modern infrastructure and equipment, and placing special focus on STEM fields to train high-quality human resources. She also encouraged students to see STEM as an essential part of life and expressed her strong belief in their potential to become outstanding scientists, engineers, and technology experts in the future—contributing significantly to the development of the country.

A highlight of the event was the unique exhibition booths showcasing creative STEM models, which drew significant interest from both students and teachers. At these booths, students had the opportunity to take part in hands-on activities such as scientific experiments and building innovative models. These experiences helped them develop creative thinking and the ability to apply knowledge to real-life situations.

As part of the program, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Đinh Văn Phúc – Director of the Institute of Interdisciplinary Science and Dean of the Faculty of Applied Science and Technology at Nguyễn Tất Thành University – shared insights with high school teachers in Đồng Tháp Province on implementing STEM teaching in line with the 2018 General Education Program, as well as guidance on designing STEM models with the theme: “From Idea Development to Model Design.” Through the session, teachers gained a clearer understanding of STEM education, realizing that STEM is neither too difficult nor unfamiliar. In fact, it is highly accessible and closely tied to solving real-life problems within their local communities.

One of the highlights of the STEM Festival was that NTTU awarded scholarships to students from 70 high schools. Each school received 10 scholarships, each worth 17 million VND, totaling nearly 12 billion VND for all 70 participating schools. These scholarships are available to students who apply for admission to Nguyễn Tất Thành University before September 25, 2025, with the aim of supporting and encouraging their academic endeavors.

Mr. Bùi Quang Trung, Head of the Communications Department shared: “We hope that these scholarships will provide students with additional motivation to pursue their passions and dreams.” This highlights the university’s deep commitment to the development of education and strong support for the younger generation.

The STEM Education Festival 2025, themed “STEM around Us,” held at Đồng Tháp University, concluded with a vibrant and emotional atmosphere. The event left a lasting impression, offering not only a variety of engaging hands-on activities but also raising awareness among students and teachers about the essential role of STEM education in shaping future learning and career paths. This was not just an educational event but also brought immense social value. It encouraged creativity, developed soft skills, and provided opportunities for young people to interact with one another as well as with experts in the field of science and technology.
