04 training programs of Nguyen Tat Thanh University rated by UPM rating system

On March 24, 2022, the University Performance Metrics (UPM) system in Vietnam and the region has awarded star-rating certificates to 04 training programs of Nguyen Tat Thanh University.

Attending the event, on the side of the UPM rating system, there were Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huu Duc, Former Vice President of Vietnam National University – Hanoi, Founder and Chairman of UPM; Dr. Stephen Holmes, an expert from 4Ps Partnership (Singapore) and a member of UPM Advisory Board. On the side of Nguyen Tat Thanh University, there were Ms. Nguyen Mai Lan – Chairwoman of the University Board; Dr. Tran Ai Cam – the President, together with members of Board of Presidents, lecturers, leaders of faculties and departments.

In 2020, Nguyen Tat Thanh University was certified 4-star standard by the UPM rating system. Following that success, the university has boldly applied for the rating of training programs. As a result, the programs in Accounting, Finance and Banking were rated 4-star, the program in Information technology was rated 4-star plus, the program in Restaurant Management and Catering services was rated 3-star. Currently, Nguyen Tat Thanh University is the first and only non-public university in Vietnam to have many star-ranked training programs under the application-oriented UPM.

Speaking at the event, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huu Duc highly appreciated efforts and right direction of the whole team of Nguyen Tat Thanh University. Through the assessment, UPM shows that Nguyen Tat Thanh University is “conquering” a very proactive branding and quality management strategy, ensuring its mission of “Real Learning – Real Success – Real Prestige – Real Future” with a very dynamic and innovative starup spirit. In addition, some specific indicators such as student satisfaction, graduate employment, and international publications are also very positive.

Receiving the achievements in the quality evaluation at training program and institutional level, Ms. Nguyen Mai Lan – Chairwoman of the University Board sincerely thanked for the enthusiastic support and guidance of Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huu Duc and members of the UPM education quality ranking system. She also hopes that in the coming time, the university will make more efforts, improve the quality towards achieving 5-star standards according to the UPM Education Quality Ranking System as well as continue participating in the star-rating evaluation for other training programs.

According to Dr. Tran Ai Cam – the President of Nguyen Tat Thanh University, one of the reasons for the university to choose the UPM Star Rating System is because the system’s standards are very similar to the university’s vision and mission which are oriented innovative ecosystem, information technology and digital resources, digital transformation. This is a testament for the consistency of the university’s development orientation as well as the suitability with the development trend of higher education in particular and society in general. In the university’s development strategy for the period 2020-2025 with a vision to 2035, Nguyen Tat Thanh University has set a mission to provide human resources with entrepreneurial, innovative, integration and competitive capabilities in the domestic and international labor market.

Also within the framework of the event, Nguyen Tat Thanh University organized the seminar chaired by Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huu Duc on university governance in the context of innovation, creativity and autonomy under the UPM system. The purpose of the seminar was to identify the challenges of the Vietnam higher education system in general and Nguyen Tat Thanh University in particular in the context of innovation and autonomy, and also to introduce the application of the UPM star rating system in the quality management and innovation-oriented branding development.
