Training course on “Developing ideas for innovative startup projects in 2022”

In order to equip and improve knowledge and entrepreneurial skills for students, Nguyen Tat Thanh University (NTTU) cooperated with the Student Culture House in Ho Chi Minh City and the Southern Startup Support Advisory Council to organize a training course on “Developing ideas for innovative startup projects”. The training course was divided into minor sessions on July 12, 13, and 14, 2022 at District 4 Campus and on July 15, 16 and 17, 2022 at District 12 Campus.

The training program welcomed the participation of Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy – Standing Vice Chairwoman of the Southern Startup Support Advisory Council; Mr. Nguyen Thanh Thai – General Director of Thanh Thai Gia Company; Mr. Truong Minh Trung – Deputy Head of the Training Department, the Student Culture House in Ho Chi Minh City. From NTTU, there was the presence of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bach Long Giang – Director of NTTU Innovation and Incubation Center and Head of Science and Technology Department; Ms. Huynh Hong Mai – Deputy Director of the NTTU Innovation and Incubation Center (NIIC); Mr. Bui Quang Trung – Head of Marketing Department, with all students participating in 40 different projects from the “Students with Startup Ideas in 2022” contest.

“Developing ideas for innovative startup projects” aims to equip and build a solid knowledge foundation for the semi-final round of the “Students with startup ideas in 2022” contest. The contest started from May 2022 to the end of June 2022, attracting 55 projects from 22 universities and colleges across the country such as Pham Ngoc Thach Medical University, University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Ho Chi Minh City, RMIT University, Hanoi Open University, Vietnam Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Ho Chi Minh City University of Banking, HCMC University of Natural Resources and Environment, University of Economics and Law, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, University of Sciences, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, Van Hien University, University of Finance – Marketing, Cao Thang Technical College, HCMC University of Food Industry, NTTU Institute of Technology Application and Sustainable Development, NTT Institute of International Education. After the preliminary round with participating 55 initial projects, the judges selected 40 excellent projects to enter the semi-final. NTTU proudly had 27 projects from faculties and institutes to compete with other participating universities.

The training course was implemented, followed by main topics regarding Business awareness; The difference between traditional startups and innovative startups; Design thinking; Survey skills on customer information; Building business models; Customer profiling; Guide to write a business plan; Marketing plan; Presentation skills on Business projects; Visual storytelling skills.

At the opening ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bach Long Giang – Director of NTTU Innovation and Incubation Center and Head of Science and Technology Department shared: “In recent years, innovative startups have been promoted strongly, hence, NTTU organized the “Students with startup ideas in 2022” contest with the theme “Challenge of Creative Startups for Smart City” (CSC). The contest aims to support innovative start-ups and to organize a training course to develop ideas and activate innovative energy amongst students. Meanwhile, we also hope to express our gratitude to the Student Culture House in Ho Chi Minh City, the Southern Startup Support Advisory Council in supporting NTTU in terms of innovation and start-up activities over the years”.

After 6 days of training with a joyful atmosphere, NTTU lecturers and students actively contributed as “businessmen” demonstrating hard work, active learning in problem indentification and developing innovative start-up strategies.

Understanding the highest mission of higher education in providing quality human resources for the labor market, during the past 23 years, NTTU has constantly improved the quality of training. Apart from the development of training programs, the University also organized many useful playgrounds and contests emphasizing on providing entrepreneurship knowledge of experts to students and the startup communities in order to facilitate employability of NTTU graduates in the future. This makes an important contribution to the educational mission of NTTU in particular and to the national development strategies in general. .
