Students do internship at 5-star international hotel

NTTU – On September 26th, Nguyen Tat Thanh University signed a memorandum of understanding with Caravelle Saigon Hotel in training activities to provide students with practical internships.

Delegates from Caravelle Saigon Hotel participated in the signing ceremony were Mr. Jean Philippe Lovotti, General Manager of the hotel; Ms. Truong Thi Tuyet Mai, Deputy General Manager of the hotel, along with representatives from various departments, namely the culinary sector of Caravelle Saigon Hotel.

From Nguyen Tat Thanh University side, there were Dr. Tran Ai Cam, the University’s President; Dr. Nguyen Thanh Phuong, Head of the Corporate Relations and Job Placement for Students Department; Mr. Le Tan Thanh, Vice Dean of the Tourism Faculty, as well as other professors, lecturers, and over 40 students from the NTTU’s Tourism Faculties.

Addressing the signing ceremony, Dr. Tran Ai Cam, President of Nguyen Tat Thanh University, expressed her gratitude to the Board of Caravelle Saigon Hotel for their trust, partnership, and collaboration with the University. Regarding the service industry, she said, collaboration with restaurants and hotels in the center of Ho Chi Minh City had been always NTTU’s goal, as it provided favorable conditions for students to gain practical experience besides the knowledge they acquired in the classroom. This collaboration was expected to pave the way for new opportunities for all students of Nguyen Tat Thanh University, particularly those in the Hospitality Management disciplines.

Dr. Tran Ai Cam, the University’s President, hopes that the collaboration between two sides will create many job opportunities for students.

“You should demonstrate a learning spirit, progressiveness, and dedication to your work. And don’t forget to utilize the internship period to gain experience, contribute to the workplace, and develop yourselves”, Dr. Tran Ai Cam advised students majoring in Hospitality Management.

After discussions, Nguyen Tat Thanh University and Caravelle Saigon Hotel signed a memorandum of understanding, providing students majoring in Hospitality Management with practical internships at Caravelle Saigon Hotel. Additionally, they will exchange and learn from each other in their service-oriented training programs.

Warmly welcome the University’s Board of Presidents, lecturers, and students, Mr. Jean Philippe Lovotti, General Manager of Caravelle Saigon Hotel, stated that interns at Caravelle Saigon Hotel were always provided with training sessions. This would help students build confidence and adapt to the work environment while developing their skills. Mr. Jean Philippe Lovotti hoped that the young generation would bring fresh perspectives, new ideas, and positive energy to the workforce of Caravelle Saigon Hotel.

Participating in the internship program in a 5-star international standard restaurant is a great opportunity for students majoring in Hospitality Management to learn about the procedures in hotel rooming service, restaurants, and other recreational services at the hotel.

Nguyen Thi Hai, a student from class 19DKS1C majoring in Hotel Management, expected her internship period at the hotel to bring valuable lessons and help her accumulate work experience and take advantage of career opportunities while studying at university.

As part of the signing ceremony, NTTU’s students had the chance to talk with the hotel’s management team about job tasks, skills, job opportunities after the internships, etc. Moreover, students also enjoyed a “hotel tour” and explored various areas in the hotel, including guest rooms, restaurants, spas, swimming pools, bars, and so on.
