Seminar “Technologies to develop vaccines against COVID-19: Design to practical use”

Under the complicated situation of the Covid-19 epidemic, realizing the importance and necessity of learning about Covid-19 vaccines, on the morning of October 12, 2021, Nguyen Tat Thanh University held a Seminar on “Technologies to develop vaccines against COVID-19: Design to practical use” targeting specific audiences who are  lecturers and staff in the disciplines of healthcare and biotechnology with the following contents: (1) Introduction of Covid-19 vaccines, ( 2) Vaccine production technologies, (3) Covid-19 vaccine in practice.

The seminar welcomed Assoc.Prof.Dr. Tran Thi Hong – Vice President and Director of the Interdisciplinary Institute for Social Sciences; Assoc.Prof.Dr. Bach Long Giang – Head of Science and Technology Department; Heads and Deputy Heads of departments and more than 100 lecturers and staff.

 

The seminar attracted the participation of a large number of lecturers and staff

With a seminar theme of great interest to the public, Dr. Bui Le Minh – Head of Biotechnology discipline – NTT Hitech Institute shared the knowledge and finalized results from researches around the world on the production of Covid-19 vaccines, including principles, mechanisms of vaccines; characteristics of vaccines currently used, especially those being used in Vietnam, and other problems of evaluation and usage of vaccines in practice. General and sufficient information on the scientific basis of vaccine manufacturing technology, and other issues regarding Covid-19 vaccines that have been researched and licensed for use on humans along with current concerns of the public regarding the effects and impacts of vaccines on human health were raised and discussed during the seminar. Lecturers and researchers highly appreciated this seminar on a practical topic and hoped that the University could organize more academic activities to expand scientific exchanges, knowledge and experiences sharing. This will help to generate more ideas to coordinate in joint research.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi Hong summed up the seminar and affirmed that these useful contents will promote the research spirit of lecturers and researchers in generating new research with originality, contributing to improving the quality of scientific research at Nguyen Tat Thanh University.

Academic activities to improve the scientific research capacity of the University’s academic staff have been flexibly organized by the Department of Science and Technology through an online platform. Academic activities were designed with appropriate topics of great attention to the public, attracting the participation of lecturers and staff. In the future, the University will continue to promote and organize academic activities for all faculties, staff and students in order to advance the existing strengths in science and technology, innovation and entrepreneurship of Nguyen Tat Thanh University.
