Seminar on Data Management in Science and Technology at University Library

NTTU – Recently, Nguyen Tat Thanh University has cooperated with IDT Vietnam to successfully organize an online seminar on “Data Management in Science and Technology at the University Library” with the participation of nearly 237 representatives from 128 institutes, universities and colleges across the country.

Attending the seminar, on the side of Nguyen Tat Thanh University, there were Dr. Tran Ai Cam – the President, Dr. Hoang Huu Dung – Vice President, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bach Long Giang – Manager of Science and Technology Department. Representing IDT Vietnam, there was Mr. Duong Dinh Hoa – General Director of Information and Digital Technology Company.

The online seminar was successfully organized with many participants

The program discussed the data management in Science and Technology at the University Library – an issue with great concern and focus today. Presenters from Nguyen Tat Thanh University, RMIT University, Dalat University, Viet Duc University and IDT Vietnam shared relavant contents such as building a project on a scientific and technological database, a scientific research information management system (RIMS), developing digital information resources and related issues, applying DSpace-CRIS management software, innovative academic services serving the research university model. In addition to the presentations, the seminar received many enthusiastic exchange of opinions from the participants of the workshop. The practical contents were shared from the seminar help to make the model of scientific and technological data management at the university to be more completed.

Speaking at the seminar, Dr. Tran Ai Cam – the President of Nguyen Tat Thanh University emphasized “For the purpose of systematically managing all scientific and technological data, including research publications, research topics, technology products, etc. of the University, and at the same time, promoting the results of scientific and technological research of the University, creating conditions for students, lecturers, researchers of the University as well as serving the community to explore and use, the University implements the project “Building scientific and technological data of Nguyen Tat Thanh University”, this is one of the key projects in the development trategy of the University in the period of 2020-2025. With the topic of today’s seminar, I think this is a good opportunity for the Library Information Center, Science and Technology Department of Nguyen Tat Thanh University in particular and lecturers from other higher institutes to exchange and share valuable experiences on how to implement and apply technologies, use policies for users and other practical issues related to the university’s science and technology data management”.

It could be said that with the current digital transformation roadmap in higher education, the building of a database in science and technology will aim to establish a network to link databases of universities creating conditions for users to access, exploit, and share anywhere, anytime to effectively serve training, scientific research as well as other activities of the University.
