Scientific Seminar: The Journey of 25 Years of Aspiration and Development – NTTU
NTTU – On the morning of June 4, 2024, at Nguyen Tat Thanh University, the seminar “The Journey of 25 Years of Aspiration and Development – NTTU” took place, along with the announcement and awarding ceremony of UPM star ratings for three training programs. This event is part of a series of activities celebrating the 25th anniversary of Nguyen Tat Thanh University’s founding (June 5, 1999 – June 5, 2024).
In attendance at the program were several distinguished guests, including Prof. Dr. People’s Teacher Nguyen Huu Duc – Former Vice President of Vietnam National University, Hanoi – Head of the Advisory Team of the National Committee for Educational Innovation for the 2016-2021 period; Founding President of the UPM Institute for Innovation; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Duy Lam, President of the Vietnam Association of Food Science and Technology; Mr. Nguyen Duc Binh – Director of the SMEPC, VCCI Ho Chi Minh City, Member of the Executive Committee of the NTTU Business Club; Mr. Huynh Tan Dat – Director of Le Huynh Environmental Technology Co., Ltd., Vice President of the Ho Chi Minh City Nature and Environment Protection Association, Member of the Executive Committee of the Nguyen Tat Thanh University Business Club.

The leadership of Nguyen Tat Thanh University attended the Scientific Seminar “The Journey of 25 Years of Aspiration and Development – NTTU.”
In her opening remarks at the seminar, Dr. Nguyen Mai Lan – Chairwoman of the Board of Trustees and Chairwoman of the University Council of Nguyen Tat Thanh University – highly appreciated and acknowledged the positive contributions of all units within the university, which have helped elevate the university’s status in society, nationally, regionally, and internationally. The university leadership always supports and will continue to support and invest in key areas of work. The Chairwoman of the University Council of Nguyen Tat Thanh University also affirmed: “Nguyen Tat Thanh University will inherit and promote the achievements and experiences accumulated with the spirit of daring to think, daring to do, and daring to innovate, creating a positive academic environment and practical experiences, contributing to the development of the economy and society. We are determined to unite, develop comprehensively, and elevate the university to new heights, worthy of the glorious tradition of 25 years of construction and development.”
Dr. Nguyen Mai Lan, Party Secretary – Chairwoman of the Board of Trustees, Chairwoman of the University Council of Nguyen Tat Thanh University, delivered the opening remarks at the seminar.
At the seminar, the presenters delivered reports on various topics, including: Training and international cooperation (Dr. Nguyen Kieu Phat – Acting Head of the Training Management Department cum Deputy Director of the E-Learning Institute); Scientific research, entrepreneurship, and innovation (Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bach Long Giang – Head of the Department of Science and Technology); Corporate relations and community service (Dr. Nguyen Thanh Phuong – Head of the Corporate Relations and Student Employment Department); Quality assurance strategy and development orientation for NTTU for the 2025-2030 period, with a vision to 2045 (Dr. Tran Ai Cam – President of Nguyen Tat Thanh University).

In his presentation at NTTU, expert Prof. Dr. People’s Teacher Nguyen Huu Duc mentioned that Nguyen Tat Thanh University has implemented a strategy to attract students and stakeholders through the transition from SMART to WISER; aiming for wise innovation and development strategies that offer many opportunities and challenges. Therefore, there is a need for policies to implement core values such as unity, consensus, and commitment to quality policies already announced. This includes developing the workforce by increasing the ratio of doctoral-level teachers, building an inspiring team of scientists. Regarding science, technology, and innovation, sustainability and internal compatibility with OUTPUT (publications) and IMPACT (academic reputation QS, THE) are essential. Three programs including Pharmacy, Hotel Management, and Resource & Environmental Management at Nguyen Tat Thanh University have been rated by the UPM System.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vo Thi Dieu Hien – Head of the Environmental Resource Management Department – proudly stated that the Environmental Resource Management program has achieved a 5-star rating from the UPM system in research, which serves as concrete evidence affirming the quality of education in the field. In the future, the faculty and students of the Environmental Resource Management department are committed to continuously striving to enhance the quality of education, scientific research, and community service, step by step making meaningful contributions to society while promoting the sustainable development of the country.
The scientific seminar “The Journey of 25 Years of Aspiration and Development – NTTU” celebrates the 25th anniversary of Nguyen Tat Thanh University, providing an opportunity for the university to look back on the journey it has taken. With great efforts and perseverance, the university has overcome numerous challenges to achieve many proud accomplishments and establish its current position. On the path towards the future, the NTTU community remains united, upholding its traditions and human values, setting goals for the new phase: to be a dynamic university aspiring to affirm its brand through quality, to pioneer as a model university for entrepreneurship and innovation, and to contribute to sustainable social development.
