NTTU awarded 5 full scholarships to students from Savanakhet Province (Laos)
NTTU – On the morning of December 8th, Nguyen Tat Thanh University welcomed a delegation from the Department of Education and Sports of Savannakhet Province (Lao PDR) for a visit and working session.
The delegation included Mr. Lonphanh Phaodavanh – Consul General of the Lao PDR in Ho Chi Minh City; Dr. Souksomphone Arnotham – Director of the Department of Education and Sports of Savannakhet Province; Mrs. Lammay Bouttakhanh – Department of Education and Sports of Savannakhet Province; Mrs. Lach Keomixay – Department of Foreign Affairs of Savannakhet Province.
The delegation was welcomed by Dr. Tran Ai Cam – President of Nguyen Tat Thanh University, along with members of the university including Dr. Hoang Huu Dung – Vice President; Msc. Hoang Huu Tien – Head of the Office of the University; Msc. Nguyen Quynh Son – Director of the International Student Support Center; Msc. Bui Quang Trung – Head of the Communication Department, and a large number of Lao students currently studying at the university.
During the working session, Dr. Tran Ai Cam warmly welcomed the delegation from the Department of Education and Sports of Savannakhet Province to Nguyen Tat Thanh University. Dr. Tran Ai Cam mentioned that the university has been receiving Lao students for study since 2016, and the number of Lao students studying at the university has been increasing over the years. Currently, there are 30 Lao students who have graduated from Nguyen Tat Thanh University and are working and contributing to the economic and social development of their country. Dr. Cam affirmed that training human resources for Laos is not only an internationalization goal but also contributes to strengthening the friendship between the two countries.
Dr. Tran Ai Cam delivered a welcoming speech to the delegation from the Department of Education and Sports of Savanakhet Province.
During the working session, Nguyen Tat Thanh University informed the Department of Education and Sports of Savanakhet Province about the academic, cultural exchange, and extracurricular activities of Lao students at the university. As of now, the university has welcomed over 250 Lao students participating in undergraduate and postgraduate programs, mainly in fields such as Medicine, Pharmacy, Nursing, Business Administration, Finance and Banking, Information Technology, etc.
On this occasion, Nguyen Tat Thanh University awarded 5 full scholarships to students from Savanakhet Province.
Expressing gratitude for the warm welcome at Nguyen Tat Thanh University, Dr. Souksomphone Arnotham, Director of the Department of Education and Sports of Savanakhet Province, sincerely thanked the university council and the university administration for receiving Lao students for their studies and for providing support such as accommodation and exchange activities, which helps Lao students integrate more easily into their new environment.
Dr. Souksomphone Arnotham, Director of the Department of Education and Sports of Savanakhet Province, expressed sincere gratitude to the University Council and the Administration Board of Nguyen Tat Thanh University.
Providing information to Nguyen Tat Thanh University, Mr. Lonphanh Phaodavanh, the Consul of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic in Ho Chi Minh City, stated that among the 2 students honored as “Outstanding Lao and Cambodian Students in Ho Chi Minh City 2023” by the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union Executive Committee, Nguyen Tat Thanh University has 1 Lao student who has achieved the title of “Outstanding Lao and Cambodian Student in Ho Chi Minh City” for 6 consecutive years.
Over the years, international students studying at the university, including Lao students, have received significant support from the university in terms of accommodation in dormitories, cultural exchange activities, sports, and student life care, such as the International Student Sports Festival, Vietnamese Karaoke Singing Competition, Mid-Autumn Volunteer Activities, Outdoor Excursions, Traditional Vietnamese Tet Holidays for International Students, Lao-Cambodian Traditional Tet Holidays, etc.
