Nguyen Tat Thanh University Renews Memorandum of Understanding with Adamson University – Philippines

NTTU – On July 3, 2025, Nguyen Tat Thanh University (NTTU), together with the Faculty of Civil Engineering, warmly welcomed a delegation from Adamson University (AdU) – Philippines.This visit from AdU marked three years since the two sides first signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in June 2022.During the MoU renewal ceremony, both parties reviewed the international cooperation activities they have carried out together over the past three years and discussed future collaborative initiatives in the time ahead.

NTTU and Adamson University (Philippines) Celebrate Key Achievements Following Three Years of Collaboration

After three years of cooperation, Nguyen Tat Thanh University (NTTU) and Adamson University (AdU) have achieved notable milestones, marking the success of their ongoing academic partnership:

  • In 2022, the two universities co-organized several academic exchange activities. Notably, Dr. Le Ho Minh Tri – Head of the Department of Structural Mechanics at NTTU – delivered an online lecture on “Development of Ultra High Strength Concrete,” while Dr. Tomas U. Ganiron from AdU gave a presentation on “Engineering Management and Organization.”

  • In September 2023, a one-week Visiting Professor Program was held at AdU. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Truong Vu – Dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering at NTTU – lectured to over 100 final-year civil engineering students on “Modern Optimization Methods – Case Studies in Civil Engineering.” In addition, Dr. Nguyen Thue Quy, as a Guest Lecturer, introduced the topic “Structural Health Monitoring of High-rise Buildings and Slender Masonry Minarets.” The academic trip also included direct meetings and discussions between NTTU faculty and graduate students with AdU leadership.

  • In March 2024, a delegation from AdU led by Fr. Daniel Franklin E. Pilario – President of Adamson University – visited NTTU and held meetings with Dr. Tran Ai Cam – President of NTTU, along with university and faculty leaders at NTTU’s 300A campus.

  • Also in March 2024, a Visiting Professor Program took place at NTTU’s An Phu Dong campus. A group of three lecturers from AdU, led by Engr. Jerome Jordan F. Famadico – Head of the Department of Civil Engineering at AdU – conducted a week-long lecture series on “English for Construction” for third-year civil engineering students. The program also included face-to-face meetings with NTTU’s leadership.

  • In May 2025, the “2025 ASEAN Online Lecture Exchange in Structural Engineering” was successfully co-organized by NTTU’s Faculty of Civil Engineering, AdU’s Department of Civil Engineering, and the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Planning at Petra Christian University (PCU), Indonesia.
    Dr. Nolan Concha (AdU) presented on “Development of Interaction Diagrams for the Analysis of RC Columns,” Dr. Le Hai Dang (NTTU) shared insights into “Wind Tunnel Testing for High-rise Buildings and Bridges,” and Dr. Jimmy Chandra (PCU) concluded the series with a lecture on “Precast Concrete Element Connections.”

According to Sr. Maruja S. Padre Juan – Director of the Office for Institutional Development and External Relations at AdU – these activities demonstrate the joint efforts of both universities in expanding and strengthening international cooperation under the MoU. She highlighted that the diverse lecture topics not only enriched students’ knowledge but also gave them the opportunity to experience international teaching styles.

Sr. Maruja also expressed hope that the partnership will continue to grow, with new initiatives such as student exchange programs that allow students to experience the learning environments and cultures of both countries.

On NTTU’s side, Mr. Le Quang Khanh – Director of the Office of International Collaboration – emphasized the importance of student exchange in NTTU’s international cooperation programs to date. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Truong Vu also expressed the Faculty of Civil Engineering’s strong desire to implement similar programs for their students. Both sides affirmed their commitment to building detailed plans to realize collaborative initiatives that will bring meaningful benefits to students of both universities.

As part of the working session, Sr. Maruja S. Padre Juan announced that Adamson University (AdU) has recently been officially ranked in the QS (Quacquarelli Symonds) system. QS evaluates universities worldwide through rankings such as the QS World University Rankings and QS Stars.Sr. Maruja also shared updates on AdU’s improvements in infrastructure and academic activities. She emphasized that AdU is always open to welcoming more international students through exchange programs with partner institutions and expressed the hope of soon hosting students from Nguyen Tat Thanh University (NTTU).In return, NTTU representatives also shared recent updates on the university’s facilities and current developments in academic training.

The renewal of the MoU highlights the effectiveness of the three-year collaboration between NTTU and AdU, while also reflecting the shared desire to further strengthen their international partnership. This event marks an important milestone in the commitment to providing a professional learning environment, offering students from the Faculty of Civil Engineering the opportunity to engage with international lecturers — thereby enhancing their academic knowledge, communication skills, and foreign language proficiency.
