Nguyen Tat Thanh University ranked 4th by Webometrics amongst 184 universities in Vietnam
On February 1, Cybermetrics Labs (under the Spanish National Research Council) announced the first rankings of universities in 2023. Accordingly, 184 Vietnamese universities entered this ranking in which Nguyen Tat Thanh University (NTTU) excellently ranked 4th, from 7th place compared to the second ranking release in 2022.
According to Webometrics, Nguyen Tat Thanh University is currently ranked 1,128th (1,806th place in the second ranking evaluation period in 2022) amongst the best universities in the world and 4th amongst totally 184 universities in Vietnam participating in rankings. 3 criteria NTTU is evaluated included Impact with 894 points; Openness with 2,916 points; and Excellence with 1,474 points. The result evidenced the University’s efforts to comprehensively and actively implement initiatives such as Improving the effectiveness of publicity and promotion activities; Synchronizing NTTU websites with member universities, affiliated organizations, domestic and international partners; Enhancing international academic publication. In addition, the University has developed a strategic plan for sustainable scientific and technological activities in order to improve the internal quality and strengths through specific policies which attract high-quality human resources, investment for infrastructure, modern facilities and equipment, laboratories, etc.

In 2023, NTTU’s ranking goes up to 4th from 7th place in the Webometrics – Ranking of Vietnam Universities
According to the aforementioned ranking system, top 10 Vietnamese higher education institutions in January 2023 include Vietnam National University, Hanoi , Ton Duc Thang University, Duy Tan University, Nguyen Tat Thanh University, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics; Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City; University of Danang and Can Tho University.
Webometrics is an automatically updated ranking system that evaluates the digitization capacity, web access, academic impact of scholarly articles of higher education institutions based on the indicators ofVisibility, Openness of academic resources on Google Scholar, and scientific citation index on Scopus database system (excellence) of the evaluated university. Biannually, at the beginning and middle of the year, Webometrics publishes ranking evaluations for universities around the world based on web access and scientific indicators.
Three current indicators for ranking evaluation are listed as below:
– Impact or Visibility (50%): The number of external networkslinking to the University’s website, indicating the impact of the University’s web contents. Data is extracted from Ahref and Majestic.
– Openness or Transparency (10%): The number of citations on Google Scholar. This indicator highlights the dissemination of academic publications by the university.
– Excellence (40%): The number of scholarly articles/papers published by the university’s lecturers and researchers amongst the top 10% most cited Scopus-indexed scientific journals.
