Nguyen Tat Thanh University organizes Green Sunday

Green Sunday is a movement to convey the message and shared knowledge about “Protecting the environment, protecting each of us”. On March 21, 2021, the youth union of Nguyen Tat Thanh University (NTTU) had a meaningful volunteer day. Tran Quang Co canal is nearly 4km long, heavily polluted due to waste discharge from factories, production facilities and people in the area. To save the dying canal, volunteers have actively collected, and implemented waste treatment along the canal. They also picked up water hyacinth to clear the water flow; strengthen people awareness of environmental protection and litter prevention.

More than 150 youth union members participated in the event with the desire to renovate the canal, creating better living conditions for the neighbors. The volunteers were not afraid of hardships, they were very dedicated and work hard.

After this Green Sunday, the canal was well-renovated. The surroundings became beautiful, cleaned up significantly, creating an engaging and opened environment for the riverbank. Especially, fresh and pleasant air returns to the neighbourhood. Green Sunday represents a message that NTTU wants to send to our students who are willing to protect our environment and make it green – clean – beautiful.
