Nguyen Tat Thanh University moves up outstandingly in the Webometrics rankings

NTTU – Webometrics has just announced the results in rankings for January 2022. Accordingly, Nguyen Tat Thanh University goes up 31 places compared to January 2021, from 38th position excelling to 7th place in the ranking of universities in Vietnam.

According to the ranking results of Webometrics, there are 178 universities in Vietnam ranked. Accordingly, Nguyen Tat Thanh University has excellently risen to the 7th place out of 178 ranked universities in Vietnam, up 31 places in Vietnam in the rankings in January 2022. In the evaluation criteria of the ranking, Nguyen Tat Thanh University is evaluated with 3 evaluation criteria including: Impact is 4,289 (in 2021, it was 7,164); Transparency is 2,956 (in 2021 it was 3,335); Excellence is: 1,792 (in 2021 it was 6,658). Compared to the ranking results in 2021, this year, Nguyen Tat Thanh University has increased points in all ranking criteria of this ranking.

In 2022, Nguyen Tat Thanh University rose to the 7th place in the ranking of universities in Vietnam

Dr. Tran Ai Cam, President of the University, shared: “This result shows that Nguyen Tat Thanh University’s efforts have synchronously and actively implemented solutions such as: Improving communication efficiency; Synchronously connecting websites of Nguyen Tat Thanh University with member universities, affiliated units, domestic and international partners; Increasing international scientific publications (there are 600 articles on ISI/SCOPUS, 300 articles in national and international journals with many new, valuable and cited research results); In addition, the University continues to improve the Journal of Science and Technology”.

On May 18, 2021, the Vietnam Citation Gateway system announced the impact index rankings of more than 80 scientific research journals in Vietnam. In particular, the Vietnam Journal of Computer Science of Nguyen Tat Thanh University excellently entered top 5 Vietnamese scientific journals in 2020 with the highest impact index. The ranking of impact indexes of more than 80 Vietnamese scientific journals is calculated through the number of citations in 2020 of articles published in 5 years (2015-2019). This is the result published by the Vietnam Citation Gateway system every 2 years. With this achievement, the scientific journal of Nguyen Tat Thanh University is the leading scientific journal in the ranking of the system of non-public universities.

Previously, this Journal of Nguyen Tat Thanh University was also officially accepted into the SCOPUS database system. According to Dr. Tran Ai Cam, this is one of the reasons why Nguyen Tat Thanh University has made great progress in this year’s Webometrics rankings.

The Vietnam Journal of Computer Science, of Nguyen Tat Thanh University, was officially accepted into the SCOPUS database system.

Over the years, Nguyen Tat Thanh University has constantly enhanced and diversified scientific research. In which, encouraging lecturers of faculties, institutes and centers to participate in scientific research, focusing on implementing applied research, research topics from the University to the State level and research programs have been promoted by the University. Not only that, the University always creates a favorable environment for the development of scientific research works.

Webometrics is an automatically updated ranking that evaluates the digitization capacity and pervasiveness and impact on academic resources of higher education institutions based on indicators of pervasiveness, the influence of website and online information system (visibility), openness of academic resources on Google Scholar, and scientific citation index on Scopus database system (excellence) of an higher education institution. Twice a year at the beginning and middle of the year, Webometrics publishes ranking results for universities around the world based on their website and science indexes.
