Nguyen Tat Thanh University establishes Institute of Interdisciplinary Social Sciences
NTTU – On April 9, 2021, Nguyen Tat Thanh University organized the ceremony to announce the decision on the establishment of the Institute of Interdisciplinary Social Sciences (IISS). Attending the ceremony were leaders from Vietnam E-commerce Association, Digital Transformation Alliance, Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Long An Province, Department of Information and Communications of Ben Tre Province, representatives of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, together with partners and businesses of Nguyen Tat Thanh University.
The Institute of Interdisciplinary Social Sciences aims to study theoretical and practical issues in the field of social sciences under the impact of globalization, international and regional integration; train and connect high-quality human resources on social sciences; consult and evaluate programs, projects, topics in relevant fields; enhance research activities and publish the results of domestic and international scientific research in the field of social sciences.
Speaking at the launching ceremony, Ms. Nguyen Mai Lan, Chairwoman of the University Council of Nguyen Tat Thanh University, on behalf of the University Council and the Board of Presidents to motivate and support for the establishment of Institute of Interdisciplinary Social Sciences. Interdisciplinary – Connection – Distinctions will be key points in approaching the development strategies of the Institute of Interdisciplinary Social Sciences in the next five years.

According to Prof. Dr. Tran Trung – Director of Vietnam Academy for Ethnic Minorities, Chairman of the Advisory Council of the Institute, interdisciplinarity must be clearly shown in three aspects: interdisciplinary in research issues, interdisciplinary in team of scientists and interdisciplinary in technology solutions. He emphasized the effective use of existing technology solutions of a number of engineering and technology disciplines of Nguyen Tat Thanh University, specially, the application of digital technologies in social sciences under the researches of IISS;

Within the framework of the launching Ceremony, IISS started its first activities by signing cooperation agreements with the Vietnam E-commerce Association (VECOM) and the Digital Transformation Alliance for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (DTS) on training, scientific research and technology application. In which, the parties will co-organize domestic and international scientific conferences and seminars; collaborate in the field of creative and innovative start-ups; support activities for students as science research, internship, field trips, connect technology businesses in the e-commerce and digital transformation field to participate in teaching to provide practical knowledge to students, recruit graduate students according to demands of businesses; coordinate to carry out community and social services, especially, the applied research activities in the implementation of the Ben Tre Province Digital Transformation Scheme for the period of 2020 – 2025, vision to 2030.

The Institute of Interdisciplinary Social Sciences (IISS) of Nguyen Tat Thanh University focuses not only on training and developing human resources, research and international cooperation but also on researching other fields of Tourism and Vietnamese studies, Educational Sciences, Linguistics Science, Management Science, Financial Technology Science, Legal Science, and Political Science. |
