Nguyen Tat Thanh University organizes International conference on Mathematical Research, Education and Applications 2024

NTTU – From July 15 to 17, 2024, Nguyen Tat Thanh University (NTTU) cooperates with Dong Thap University (DThU) organized the International Conference on Mathematical Research, Education and Applications, Abbreviated as ICMREA – NTTU & DThU 2024) with the participations of representatives from Vietnam Mathematics Association, Vietnam Institute of Mathematics Nam, University of Economics and Law, VNU-HCM and Mahidol University (Bangkok, Thailand). The participants included about 65 scientists, including 18 international delegates from many countries around the world and 47 Vietnamese delegates presenting scientific reports.

The conference will have plenary sessions and parallel sessions held at Nguyen Tat Thanh University on July 15, 2024, other sessions will be held at Dong Thap University on July 16 and 17, 2024.

It is known that ICMREA – NTTU & DThU 2024 is a large forum for Vietnamese and international scientists to present recent research results in both theory and application in the field of mathematics and related topics. This is also a forum for leading mathematicians and scientists interested in mathematics from Vietnam and the world to openly share their research and discuss future research directions for better results. More research project results and articles were published in prestigious domestic and world journals.

Speaking at the opening of the conference, Dr. Tran Ai Cam, President of Nguyen Tat Thanh University, hoped that the conference would provide a platform for domestic and foreign scientists who apply mathematics in socioeconomics, as well as in research and mathematics education, exchange ideas and research projects. The exchange of scientific ideas and dissemination of new research results with international scientists is necessary for the professional development of lecturers and is an essential part of the international integration process of Vietnam’s field of science. In particular, the conference would bring practical knowledge and share expertise to promote sustainable development.

This conference has 1 keynote lecture, 05 plenary lectures, 15 invited talks and 26 short communications. The keynote lecture will be given by Prof. PhD. Ngo Viet Trung – former President of the Vietnam Mathematics Association, former Director of the Vietnam Institute of Mathematics; The professor has received both the Ho Chi Minh Prize and the Ta Quang Buu Prize – the two most prestigious awards for Vietnamese scientists.

Prof.Dr. Jong Hae Keum (Korea Institute for Advanced Study – KIAS); Prof. Dr. Jongil Park (President of the Korean Mathematical Society, Seoul National University – Korea); Prof. Dr. Sijong Kwak (Dean of KAISIT College of Natural Sciences – Korea Research Institute of Science and Technology); Prof. Dr. Nabendu Pal (Louisiana University, USA) and Prof. Dr. Arihant Jain (Shanxi Normal University, China). Invited talks included Prof. Dr. Nguyen Trung Hung (Chiang Mai University, Thailand); Prof. Dr. Sapna Jain (Shanxi Normal University, China); Prof. Dr. Lam Quoc Anh (Can Tho University); Prof. Dr. Sorasak Leeratanavalee (Chiang Mai University, Thailand), etc.

At the conference, delegates listened to Prof. Dr. Ngo Viet Trung’s presentation on the History of Local cohomology. The original purpose of this theory was to solve geometric problems and create conditions for combinatorial commutative algebra to be born in the 1970s. According to the results reported by Professor Dr. Ngo Viet Trung, today, Theory of local cohomology has become one of the important tools in solving commutative algebra and algebraic geometry problems.

The conference attracted many opinions and discussions from students, delegates and invited guests. Through this conference, Nguyen Tat Thanh University hopes to bring practical results, enabling the improvement of professional capacity, research and teaching methods, and professional development skills for lecturers, students, practitioners in research, education and applications of Mathematics. This is also an opportunity for lecturers and students at Nguyen Tat Thanh University to learn, expand knowledge, skills and methods, the ability to be proactive, to excel in learning and research, teaching, and contributing to socio-economic development and an opportunity to introduce to international and domestic partners and friends the reputation of the University as well as opportunities for future cooperation. In particular, at ICMREA 2024, experts from famous journals will also gather for a thorough discussion, creating an opportunity for the University’s two journals: East-West Journal of Mathematics and Southeast Asian Journal of Science, to be upgraded to international standards.
