Nguyen Tat Thanh University chairs the seminar “Promoting the effectiveness of using scientific and technical books donated by Dr. Vo Ta Han, an American expatriate.”

On April 8th, 2022, a seminar on “Promoting the effectiveness of using scientific and technical books supplied by Dr. Vo Ta Han, an American expatriate,” was conducted in room A.802 of Nguyen Tat Thanh University. The seminar’s objective was to recognize and praise Dr. Vo Ta Han’s magnificent effort, as well as to facilitate university and college collaboration on ideas and methods for increasing the efficiency of using donated books by Dr. Vo Ta Han.

Mr. Phung Cong Dung – Chairman, Mr. Vo Thanh Chat – Vice Chairman, as well as leaders of the Department of Culture, Information, and Social Affairs, officers, and department specialists from the Committee on Overseas Vietnamese in Ho Chi Minh City attended the seminar.

Mr. Nguyen Kim Luyen represented Ho Chi Minh City’s Department of Education and Training.

Ms. Le Thi My Chau – Chairman of Vinafirst Joint Stock Company, Dr. Nguyen Xuan Xanh – German expatriate, Mr. Dinh Vinh Cuong – Vietnamese in Japan – Chairman of the Board of Directors of 365 Group, and other officials spoke on behalf of the representative of Dr. Vo Ta Han and the Vo Ta Han Scholarship.

On behalf of the higher education institutions, MSc. Nguyen Ngoc Trung – Vice President of Ho Chi Minh City Pedagogical University, Dr. Nguyen Hoang Vu – Vice President of Tien Giang University, Dr. Mai Minh Nhat – Vice President of Da Lat University, and representatives of school leaders and library representatives from 25 universities and colleges accepted donated books.

On behalf of Nguyen Tat Thanh University, Dr. Tran Ai Cam – President, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi Hong – Vice President, Dr. Tran Thien Luu – Vice President, Ms. Tran Thi Thuy Kieu – Director of the Information Library Center, as well as faculties, staff, and specialists from the Information Center – Library, participated.

Dr. Tran Ai Cam expressed gratitude to Dr. Vo Ta Han for the book donation initiative during the seminar presentation. She also wished that Nguyen Tat Thanh University would continue to obtain rich book resources as well as support and connection from Dr. Vo Ta Han with initiatives related to education, scientific research, and collaboration in education, training, business linkages, etc.

The seminar featured a presentation by Ms. Tran Thi Ngoc Lan, the head of the Committee on Overseas Vietnamese in Ho Chi Minh City’s Culture and Information Department, who shared the General Preliminary Report on book donation and activities utilizing donated books at the schools that received books, as well as a summary of the initial results achieved.

The seminar also included 05 university presentations separated over 2 sessions:

  • Seminar paper on “Some actions to promote donated books by Dr. Vo Ta Han to students and lecturers” from Thu Duc College of Technology, Ho Chi Minh City
  • Seminar paper on “Dr. Vo Ta Han’s donated books project with learning, teaching, and scientific research activities” from Thu Dau Mot University
  • Seminar paper on “Library’s Experience in Managing Dr. Vo Ta Han’s Donated Books” from Dong A University
  • Seminar paper on “Some strategies to increase the efficiency of utilizing donated books by Dr. Vo Ta Han” from the University of Industrial Economics and Technology
  • Seminar paper on “Proposing model of communication of donated books by Dr. Vo Ta Han at higher education institutions” from Nguyen Tat Thanh University

After listening the presentations, the seminar participants reviewed them and offered strategies for successfully growing the source of sponsored books.

Prior to the program’s termination, Nguyen Tat Thanh University committed to actively promoting and introducing books to students, lecturers, and researchers throughout the university, while also creating favorable conditions for students, lecturers, and researchers to make effective use of this priceless resource.
