Nguyen Tat Thanh University Association for Promoting Education: a typical model of the association for promoting education at the institutional level in Ho Chi Minh City
NTTU – On June 26th, 2023, the Congress of Nguyen Tat Thanh University Association for Promoting Education, the term II of 2023 – 2028 was solemnly held at the main campus of Nguyen Tat Thanh University.
Participants included Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Tam – representative, Department of Home Affairs of Ho Chi Minh City; Mr. Pham Thanh Son – Deputy Manager of Education Department, Party Committee’s Publicity Education Commission; Mr. Nguyen Huu Can – President of Ho Chi Minh City Association for Promoting Education; Ms. Bui Ngoc Thu – Vice President of District 4 Association for Promoting Education; Mr. Dang Chi Cong – Vice President of Ho Chi Minh City Technical – Economic College Association for Promoting Education.
Representatives from Nguyen Tat Thanh University were Ms. Nguyen Mai Lan – Chairwoman of the University Board; Mr. Nguyen Van Luong – Vice Chairman of the University Board; Dr. Tran Ai Cam – President; Dr. Nguyen Tuan Anh – Vice President; Dr. Hoang Huu Dung – Vice President; Mr. Pham Van Dat – Former Vice Predient; together with members, participants of Nguyen Tat Thanh University Association for Promoting Education, the term I of 2017 – 2022.
Speaking at the opening session, Ms. Nguyen Mai Lan – Chairwoman of the University Board overviewed briefly the activities of Nguyen Tat Thanh University Association for Promoting Education during the past term, assessing achievements, advantages, strengths, disadvantages, and weaknesses, then empirical lessons.

Being one of the first three universities in Ho Chi Minh City to establish the Association for Promoting Education at the institutional level, during the past term, Nguyen Tat Thanh University Association for Promoting Education achieved many profound accomplishments as expected by the Party Committee and Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee.
In the summary report of term I, Mr. Pham Van Dat – Former Vice President of Nguyen Tat Thanh University emphasized the tight supervision on activities for promoting education in compliance with regulations and directions of the Party and laws of the State. According to the report, many sponsors and scholarships were awarded to students from Laos and Cambodia for the period of 2016 – 2020, Vua A Dinh Scholarship Fund, and Hoang Sa – Truong sa islands.

However, Mr. Dat showed shortingcomings of the past term including lack of specific plan for each year, not yet applied privileges and benefits for the membership when using facilities at the university.
Recognizing achievements of Nguyen Tat Thanh University Association for Promoting Education, Mr. Nguyen Huu Can – President of Ho Chi Minh City Association for Promoting Education affirmed that Nguyen Tat Thanh University was the first university to successfully establish an association with full of operations and regulations as expected, building diversified scholarship policies and life-long learning culture.

With the framework of the Congress, the Education Fund of Nguyen Tat Thanh University received the donation from Sai Gon Textile and Garment Joint Stock Company and Nguyen Tat Thanh University of up to VND 1.5 billion, and from the members and participants worth over VND 34 million in cash.

After working with high responsibility, democracy, and transparency, the Congress elected 11 members to the Executive Committee of Nguyen Tat Thanh University Association for Promoting Education for the term II (2023 – 2028), including Ms. Nguyen Mai Lan as President, Dr. Tran Ai Cam and Dr. Hoang Huu Dung as Vice Presidents.

Setting up goals for the term II (2023 – 2028), Nguyen Tat Thanh University Association for Promoting Education shall innovate operations, build digital data, apply advanced technologies on teaching and learning, develop distance learning, and digitalize domestic and international materials. According to Dr. Tran Ai Cam – President of Nguyen Tat Thanh University, these goals contribute to promote the campaigns of “Building a learning society in the period of 2021 – 2030”, “Promoting the lifelong learning movement in families and communities in the period of 2021 – 2030”, and “Building a model of learning citizenship in the period of 2021 – 2030”.
According to Dr. Tran Ai Cam – President of Nguyen Tat Thanh, in the term II, Nguyen Tat Thanh University Association for Promoting Education shall achieve more new goals, orienting to be the model asscociation in Ho Chi Minh City
In addition, Nguyen Tat Thanh University Association for Promoting Education shall focus on building a good studying environment, supporting and taking good care of students, members, and staff, developing professional qualifications, meeting the development demand in the digital era.
Achievements of Nguyen Tat Thanh University Association for Promoting Education to contribute to provide qualified human resources for the country in general and Ho Chi Minh City in particular. Hopefully in the coming term, Nguyen Tat Thanh University Association for Promoting Education will further promote its pivotal role in seeking and calling for human and financial resources to create new opportunities and conditions for studious students to be able to fulfill their academic dreams.
