Nguyen Tat Thanh University Announces the 2025 International Conference on Mathematics and Applications

NTTU – From August 9 to 11, 2025, at the High-Tech Development Center – Saigon Hi-Tech Park, Ho Chi Minh City, Nguyen Tat Thanh University will host the 2025 International Conference on Mathematics Research and its Applications (ICMA – NTTU 2025).

ICMA – NTTU 2025: Bringing Together Global Mathematical Excellence, Spreading Knowledge, and Driving Applied Innovation in Vietnam

In the wave of global technological development—where big data, scientific computing, and artificial intelligence have become the operational backbone of every field—mathematics is recognized not only as a tool of thought but also as a strategic key to fostering innovation and enhancing national competitiveness. Many countries have invested heavily in applied mathematics research and training as a pillar of sustainable development. However, in Vietnam, this field remains a “fertile yet underdeveloped land”—with a declining number of students pursuing it, despite the rapidly growing demand for talent in AI, data analytics, finance, and engineering. The gap between education and real-world needs highlights the urgent necessity of boosting investment and strengthening effective connections between Vietnam’s mathematics research community and the international academic network.

Responding to the pressing need to reposition the role of mathematics in the digital era, Nguyen Tat Thanh University will organize the International Conference on Mathematics Research and its Applications (ICMA – NTTU 2025) from August 9 to 11, 2025, at NTTU’s N1 Building. The event aims to create an international academic forum, gathering scientists, experts, lecturers, doctoral candidates, and students from Vietnam and abroad to share research findings, foster interdisciplinary collaboration, and promote academic engagement in mathematics—particularly applied mathematics—in the context of comprehensive digital transformation.

The Conference on Mathematical Research, Teaching, and Applications was held in July 2024

ICMA – NTTU 2025 will bring together more than 300 delegates from 10 countries and territories, including the United States, South Korea, India, Poland, Thailand, Australia, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Vietnam. The conference has selected over 50 scientific papers, covering a wide spectrum from algebra, algebraic geometry, topology, partial differential equations, and quantum mechanics to practical applications in finance, education, biomedicine, environment, machine learning, and artificial intelligence—fields that play a pivotal role in the nation’s digital transformation process.

The Conference on Mathematical Research, Teaching, and Applications, held in July 2024, attracted a large number of scientists and experts from various countries.

The plenary session of the conference served as a gathering place for some of the world’s leading scholars in pure and applied mathematics. It opened with a keynote lecture by Prof. Dr. Efim I. Zelmanov—a renowned mathematician and recipient of the 1994 Fields Medal from the University of California, San Diego (USA)—who presented on the topic “On Growth and Complexity Functions.” This foundational work contributes to broadening perspectives and guiding research directions for younger generations, particularly in modern algebra and group theory.

In addition, the plenary session featured presentations by:

  • Prof. Dr. JongHea Keum (Korea Institute for Advanced Study – KIAS): “Surfaces of General Type and Their Canonical Models”

  • Prof. Dr. Jongil Park (Seoul National University, Korea): “4-Manifolds, Knots, and Stein Surfaces”

  • Prof. Dr. Sijong Kwak (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology – KAIST): “Secant Varieties and Syzygies of Projective Varieties”

  • Prof. Dr. Nabendu Pal (University of Louisiana at Lafayette, USA; Lecturer at Ton Duc Thang University, Vietnam): “On Some Generalized Lindley Distributions and Their Applications”

  • Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huu Du (Institute of Mathematics – Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology): “Tropical Geometry and Applications”

  • Prof. Dr. Nguyen Sum (Saigon University, Vietnam): “Cohomology and Modular Representations of Finite Groups”

  • Prof. Dr. Nguyen Trung Hung (USA and Thailand): “Spectral Theory and Operator Algebras in Modern Analysis”

These presentations not only showcased the depth of specialized research but also affirmed the academic standing of the conference on the international stage. Furthermore, they provided Vietnamese scholars with the opportunity to engage directly with contemporary research trends, expand cross-border academic collaboration, and gradually build a solid ecosystem for applied mathematics within the country.
