Faculty of Engineering-Technology opens 2 new majors in 2022
The global manufacturing revolution taking place with the strong transformation of machines and supply chains, along with an increasing wave of FDI into Vietnam, especially in the manufacturing and production poses great challenges in terms of labour force. Recent studies by the Government and International Organizations forecast that nearly 50% of jobs in the manufacturing and logistics industry will be changed in the next 3-5 years. Jobs that require high-level skills in digitization such as Logistic and Internet of Things, Robots and Artificial Intelligence, Machine manufacturing, High-tech instrumentation, etc. are increasing under the influence of digital technology.
Currently in Vietnam, the pioneer enterprises applying digital technology into production and business activities mainly depend on expats for untraditional jobs, which leads to very high cost and restriction in working with local people. Some prestigious universities in Vietnam have opened new training programs which adapt the social needs with different approaches. In particular, Nguyen Tat Thanh University with the educational philosophy of “Real Learning – Real Success – Real Prestige – Real Future”, puts the needs of employers (enterprises) and employees (students) as the focus and target in development of new training programs.
On November 8th 2021, the Science and Training Council of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Nguyen Tat Thanh University held a workshop on “Curriculum Development for two majors in Logistic & Internet of Things and Robot & Artificial Intelligence” at An Phu Dong campus of Nguyen Tat Thanh University. The workshop also had the participation of many educational and industrial experts. Two of the new jobs in trend of digital technology application of the Industrial Revolution 4.0 are forecasted to have a very high demand for labour force in the next few years when more and more companies aware of the benefits and survival of digital technology application comprehensively in whole supply chain activities.
The Curriculums of “Logistics & Internet of Things” and “Robots & Artificial Intelligence” were designed by the Faculty of Engineering – Technology with the target of providing high-quality engineers for the country timely. The curriculum development has the participation of leading experts in human resources and engineering, referring to the similar programs of the worldwide prestigious universities. It ensures learning outcomes and meets international standards.
