The Only Non-Public University in Vietnam Ranked in the QS World University Rankings for Sustainability 2025

The Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) based in the United Kingdom, has officially announced the 2025 QS World University Rankings for Sustainability. Among the ranked institutions, Nguyen Tat Thanh University (NTTU) proudly stands as the only non-public university in Vietnam to be featured in this prestigious ranking.

In 2025, the QS Sustainability Rankings evaluated nearly 1,800 universities from over 100 countries and territories, an increase of more than 350 institutions compared to 2024. In Vietnam, the number of ranked universities rose to 10, with two new additions. Notably, Nguyen Tat Thanh University (NTTU) is ranked 1,451-1,500 globally and 8th in Vietnam, making it the only non-public university in the country to feature in this prestigious list.

Nguyen Tat Thanh University – The Only Non-Public University in Vietnam Featured in the QS World University Rankings for Sustainability

The QS World University Rankings for Sustainability assess universities based on their commitment to and impact on sustainable development through research, education, and community service. The rankings use specific metrics designed to measure an institution’s ability to address major global challenges related to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) factors. Nguyen Tat Thanh University achieved high scores in several criteria:

  • Environmental Impact:
    • Environmental Research: 67.7%
    • Environmental Sustainability: 11.3%
  • Social Impact:
    • Knowledge Exchange: 64.2%
    • Impact of Education: 54.2%
    • Health & Wellbeing: 52.3%
    • Employability & Opportunities: 42.4%
    • Equality: 42.2%
  • Governance:
    • Good Governance: 20.9%

Previously, NTTU also excelled in the THE Impact Rankings 2024, ranking among the top 301-400 universities globally (top 20%) for sustainable development. This achievement marked a significant milestone for the university. Furthermore, NTTU continues to be recognized in the QS Asia University Rankings 2025, ranking within the top 34% of universities in the region, thanks to its growth in areas such as international publications, research collaborations, academic reputation, employer reputation, and student-to-faculty ratios.

As part of its 2020–2025 development strategy and 2035 vision, NTTU has embraced innovation, internationalization, and quality as its core pillars for sustainable growth. The university has actively aligned with several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), such as Good Health and Well-being, Quality Education, Gender Equality, and Partnerships for the Goals.

NTTU’s transition from an applied-oriented university to one focused on entrepreneurship and innovation has been a key factor in achieving these rankings. Through international and domestic quality assessments, the university not only strengthens its capacity to train skilled professionals for society but also emphasizes research, technology transfer, and community service. These efforts aim to promote entrepreneurial and innovative values while accelerating integration with global higher education trends.
