Nguyen Tat Thanh University won 4 awards at the 2024 Student Research Awards

NTTU – Recently, the 26th Euréka Student Research Awards 2024 announced the results, in which Nguyen Tat Thanh University won awards for 4 research topics

The final round of the Euréka 2024 Student Research Awards took place from December 6th to 8th at Saigon University, featuring various activities such as: presentations in front of the scientific panel, a networking program, the Euréka Student Research Awards camp, and the awards ceremony. In the final round, 188 research topics from 88 universities, colleges, and academies competed.

This year, Nguyen Tat Thanh University participated with 88 research topics across 13 fields, including: Food Technology, Chemistry, Natural Resources and Environment, Agricultural Science, Biology, Education Science, Medical and Pharmaceutical Science, Administration and Law, Social Sciences, Culture and Arts, Information Technology, Engineering and Technology, and Economics. Among them, the university excelled with 4 topics advancing to the final round.

In the final results, all 4 research topics from Nguyen Tat Thanh University won awards, specifically:

The research topic “Developing Adventure Tourism at Kong Sinkhole, Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park, Quang Binh Province: Towards Sustainability and Safety” by author Võ Hoàng Phi, under the guidance of MSc. Trương Phúc Hải in the field of Culture and Arts, excellently won the Second Prize.

The research topic “Copyright Protection for Works Created by Artificial Intelligence – Some Suggestions for Vietnam from the Experiences of Other Countries” by author Nguyễn Lê Anh Thư, under the guidance of MSc. Nguyễn Ngọc Anh Tiên in the field of Administration and Law, excellently won the Third Prize.

Two Consolation Prizes were awarded to the following research topics:

  • “Building a Molecular Docking Model on Targets Related to Inflammation” by authors Bùi Long Hải, Thân Trung Hiếu, Nguyễn Tiến Đạt, and Lê Hoa Hoàng Tín, under the guidance of Dr. Phan Thiện Vy in the field of Biology.
  • “Methyl Red Treatment in Aqueous Solution by Photocatalytic Degradation Using Silver Nanoparticles Synthesized from Guava Leaf Extract” by authors Mai Minh Tâm and Đoàn Ngọc Hân, under the guidance of Dr. Triệu Quốc An in the field of Chemistry.

Achieving the Second Prize at the 2024 Euréka Student Research Awards, Võ Hoàng Phi, a student majoring in Vietnamese Studies, shared that he was both surprised and delighted to win the award, as his initial goal was to learn from the experience and receive feedback from leading experts on his research project. His choice of topic stemmed from his passion for adventure tourism, which led him to conduct in-depth research and carry out a scientific study. Through this project, Hoàng Phi aims to raise awareness about the environment and highlight the sustainable economic value of preserving the gifts of nature. Additionally, he hopes to promote adventure tourism in Vietnam, showcasing its breathtaking landscapes, which are just as magnificent as those of other countries.

Not only will Hoàng Phi continue to expand and develop his research project in greater depth, but he also aims to emphasize the need to promote the field of Cultural Tourism Research in Vietnam. He believes that this area should be further nurtured and explored from various perspectives.

To gather data for his research, Hoàng Phi directly participated in exploration tours to observe, take notes, and update new information

Sharing in the joy and pride, MSc. Trương Phúc Hải – a lecturer from the Faculty of Tourism, spoke about the journey of working with Hoàng Phi on the research project. MSc. Hải mentioned that the biggest challenge was collecting and processing real data from the stakeholders involved in the “Conquering the Adventure of Kong Sinkhole” tour. Due to the nature of adventure tourism, the number of tourists participating in the tour is limited, which made it a significant challenge to gather the necessary survey data. However, thanks to persistence and support from partners, both the teacher and student were able to overcome these obstacles and complete the work with high-quality data.

Regarding the future of the project, MSc. Trương Phúc Hải further shared that the topic received high praise from the evaluation panel, as choosing adventure tourism as a subject was also a “risky” decision. This is still a relatively new field in Vietnam, with limited research available. It is this novelty that has created both the value and the unique challenge of this study. MSc. Hải hopes that Võ Hoàng Phi will continue to expand and conduct in-depth analysis of the topic, not only building on the current achievements but also progressing further at the master’s and doctoral levels. With its great potential, this research could serve as a foundation for valuable scientific works, contributing meaningfully to the sustainable development of adventure tourism in Vietnam.

The year 2024 marks the 8th consecutive year that Nguyen Tat Thanh University has had award-winning research topics at the Euréka Student Research Awards. Notably, in 2023, the university achieved its first-ever First Prize in the Engineering category with the project “Research, Design, and Manufacture of a Device to Monitor 4 Parameters” by student Trương Thị Thùy Trang, under the guidance of MSc. Nguyễn Sỹ Sửu. In addition, Nguyen Tat Thanh University students have also won several other awards, including Second Prize, Third Prize, Consolation Prize, Poster Prize, and the Student Story Award.
