Nguyen Tat Thanh University awards scholarships to diligent, underprivileged students

Nguyen Tat Thanh University, as part of the Summer Opening Ceremony 2024 and in celebration of International Children’s Day on June 1, 2024, coordinated by the Inspectorate Office in collaboration with the Faculty Union – Workers Union 1, awarded scholarships to students in difficult circumstances who excel academically in Ward An Phu Dong, District 12. This initiative commemorates the university’s 25th anniversary (June 5, 1999 – June 5, 2024) and is part of the volunteer activities serving the community in the academic year 2023-2024.

It’s known that the Summer Opening Ceremony 2024 is organized by the Summer Steering Committee of An Phu Dong Ward under the theme “City Children Follow Uncle Ho’s Teachings,” aiming to host various beneficial activities for children during the summer.

The program was attended by Mr. Nguyen Duc Cuong – Vice Chairman of the Farmers’ Union, Member of the District Summer Steering Committee; Mr. Huynh Thanh Hung – Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of the ward and Head of the Summer Steering Committee, along with the participation of other members of the ward’s Summer Steering Committee. Additionally, over 800 children from An Phu Dong Ward actively took part in the ceremony.

From Nguyen Tat Thanh University, the event was attended by Comrade Tran Quoc Qui, Head of the Inspectorate Department and Secretary of the Faculty Union – Workers Union 1; Comrade Nguyen Hoang Ngoc Chau – Deputy Secretary of the Student Union; and Comrade Nguyen Phung Tien – Deputy Secretary of the Faculty Union – Workers Union 1.

At the ceremony, the Inspectorate Office and the Faculty Union – Workers Union 1 of Nguyen Tat Thanh University awarded 10 scholarships (valued at 500,000 VND per scholarship). Additionally, the Ward Summer Steering Committee presented 20 sets of school supplies to students in difficult circumstances and distributed over 800 gifts to children in the ward.

In his speech at the event, Mr. Huynh Thanh Hung – Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of An Phu Dong Ward and Head of the Summer Steering Committee – stated: “The scholarships from the Inspectorate Office and the Faculty Union – Workers Union 1 of NTTU, along with the gifts from the Summer Steering Committee, will nurture the young generation. We hope that through this program, we can provide additional motivation to help children in difficult circumstances overcome life’s challenges, study diligently, and achieve a brighter future.” Additionally, Mr. Hung mentioned that the Summer Steering Committee will organize various activities including educational programs on traditions, history, culture, moral values, and laws, as well as recreational activities to enhance skills and promote physical and mental health for children during the summer.

In the festive atmosphere of the summer opening, children enjoyed various lively and entertaining performances, including highly impressive magic shows. Following the ceremony, numerous booths were bustling with activity, attracting a large number of children. These included booths featuring traditional games, nutrition and dental care for children, free haircuts, book reading corners, pottery painting, refreshments, and more.

As part of the volunteer activities and community service for the academic year 2023-2024, in the upcoming time, the Inspectorate Department and the Trade Union of Lecturers and Employees 1 of Nguyen Tat Thanh University will collaborate with An Phu Dong Ward to continue organizing many meaningful and practical activities. These include: on July 26, 2024, organizing the “Drinking Water, Remembering the Source” ceremony, offering incense and flowers in tribute to the heroic martyrs at the traditional revolutionary base of An Phu Dong, District 12; activities of gratitude and reciprocity: visiting and presenting gifts to Heroic Vietnamese Mothers, families of wounded soldiers, martyrs, and individuals who have contributed to the revolution under difficult circumstances in the area of An Phu Dong Ward.
