Summary and awarding event on achievements in science & technology, start-ups, and innovation in 2021 – 2022
NTTU – On December 14th, 2022, Nguyen Tat Thanh University hosted the conference on summarizing and awarding departments and individuals for outstanding contributions to scientific research, start-ups and innovation for the academic year 2021-2022. With the aims of recapping and evaluating the implementation of quality goals of the whole university for the academic year 2021-2022, as well as making plans and key performance indicators for the academic year 2022-2023, the conference is also an opportunity to appreciate and reward departments and individuals for their contributions to activities in science and technology, innovation, and start-ups.
The conference honorably received the attendance of Mr. Tran Duc Su – Vice Director of Youth Science and Technology Development Center in Ho Chi Minh City. The program was chaired by Ms. Nguyen Mai Lan – Chairwoman of the University Council and other representatives including: Mr. Nguyen Kim Quy – Vice Chairman of the University Council; Dr. Nguyen Van Luong – Vice Chairman of the University Council; Dr. Tran Ai Cam – President; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi Hong – Vice President; together with lecturers, leaders from faculties, institutes, departments, and more than 200 students participating in scientific researches, start-ups, and innovation activities.

Speaking at the opening session, Ms. Nguyen Mai Lan – Chairwoman of the University Council valued and appreciated for great achievements in science and technology, innovation, and start-ups of the whole university during the last academic year, emphasizing one of the six main goals of the university for the academic year 2022-2023 to promote applied scientific and technological activities as well as develop an ecosystem of digital transformation and innovative start-ups.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi Hong – Vice President in charge of science and technology presented the flowers of appreciation to the university’s leaders for their kind support and big investment in science and technology, with kind of policies to acknowledge and reward individuals and groups for scientific research; intellectual property registrations; the transfer of applied research results to localities and businesses; as well as outstanding achievements for innovative start-ups projects.
Summarizing and evaluating the implementation of quality goals of the whole university for the academic year 2021-2022, as well as making plans and key performance indicators for the academic year 2022-2023, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bach Long – Manager of Science and Technology Department overviewed on the university’s achievements for the academic year 2021-2022 including the top three in the SCImago Institutions Rankings 2022 of Vietnamese Universities (May 2022), the top seven universities of Vietnam with the best academic achievements in the world (July 2022), the only non-public university in the South region to register in the URAP ranking, ranked 1,806 best universities in the world and 7th place out of 184 universities in Vietnam ranked by Webometric (August 2022); the only non-public university to win the Ho Chi Minh City Innovation and Entrepreneurship Award for two consecutive years. Besides, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bach Long Giang has set goals for science and technology activities in the period of 2020-2025 in line with the vision, mission and strategic orientations of the university.

At the award ceremony, Nguyen Tat Thanh University appreciated and rewarded 10 departments for the excellent completion, 11 departments of the good completion, and 17 departments for active contributions to activities in science, technology, startups, and innovation for the academic year 2021-2022. In addition, the university also rewarded 52 scientific research and international publications, and 06 outstanding innovative start-up projects of students. Hopefully, lecturers and students of Nguyen Tat Thanh University will strive and gain more outstanding achievements.

On behalf of students rewarded for scientific research contribution, Mr. Nguyen Quang Hieu – the student from the Faculty of Food and Environmental Engineering shared: “We have made our best efforts to gain such achievements over the past years, sincerely thanks to the university’s leaders and lecturers for kindly support offering us many valuable experiences in doing scientific research, helping us well-prepared for our future career. We are expecting the university to expand more opportunities for students in scientific research to develop their potential, bring their ideas closer to life, since then contribute to the development of Nguyen Tat Thanh University more and more in the future”. Ms. Truong Ai Vy – the student majoring in Biotechnology from NTT Institute of High Technology also shared about her feelings in the rewarding conference: “We are so lucky to be born and live in the era of modern technology development, and even luckier to study at Nguyen Tat Thanh University providing many chances for us to develop our creativity with inspirations from knowledge taught in the classroom. Thanks to the dedication of lecturers, our group has achieved outstanding achievements including one second prize in the contest “Students with startup ideas in 2022”, the top 20 national startup projects, the bronze medal of the 10th Application Innovation Design Award in 2022.”
