Nguyen Tat Thanh University awards Nguyen Thai Binh scholarships to poor pulpils in Quang Ngai province

On June 11, Thanh Nien Newspaper, Nguyen Tat Thanh University (HCMC), and Kim Oanh Charity Fund (Binh Duong) awarded 150 Nguyen Thai Binh scholarships to poor pupils in Quang Ngai province.

Bui Quang Trung, MSc. – Manager of the Communication Department of Nguyen Tat Thanh University is awarding scholarships to pupils at Ly Son Island

On the morning of June 11, Nguyen Van Luu – 4th grade pupil, living in Tay An Hai village (Ly Son Island) received the Nguyen Thai Binh scholarship with a great happiness. It was so heartbreaking to look at his black hands and hear his family story. He said that when he was in 3rd grade, his father was diagnosed with cancer and passed away after a few months of expensive treatment. Since then, his mother has worked so hard at construction sites with a very low pay, “I love my mother very much, I shall give the scholarship I received today to my mother to buy books for me,” said Luu.

Among pupils who received scholarships from Thanh Nien Newspaper, there were many orphans overcoming their difficult circumstances to study very well and very obediently.

Ms. Pham Thi Huong – Chairman of Ly Son Island People’s Committee, said that the island has been bustling for several months now when the Covid-19 epidemic no longer causes difficulties. This year, garlic which is considered as the white gold of the island, failed to harvest, and the yield decreased by about 70%. The island grows about 320 hectares of garlic every year, the total output of fresh garlic is about 2,800 – 3,000 tons. But this year, the total garlic production of the whole island is only about 1,200 tons, therefore, causing the farmers on the island to suffer a big loss, many people’s lives have to suffer difficuties…

Huong said more scholarships that Nguyen Tat Thanh University, Kim Oanh Charity Fund, and Thanh Nien Newspaper gave to pupils on the island are very valuable and meaningful at the current. On behalf of people of Ly Son Island, Ms. Huong thanked for the compassionate hearts for the poor children of this island.

Nguyen Ba Anh, MSc. – Deputy Manager of the Communication Department of Nguyen Tat Thanh  is awarding scholarships to pupils of Ly Son Island

Speaking at the scholarship awarding ceremony, journalist Nguyen Duc Tu, Head of Thanh Nien Newspaper Social Affairs Department, sincerely thanked the companionship of Nguyen Tat Thanh University (offering 150 million VND), Kim Oanh Charity Fund (offering 50 million VND) and Ly Son Island People’s Committee to collaborate with Thanh Nien Newspaper organizing a really cozy program with a bundle of laughs.

Bui Quang Trung, MSc. – Manager of the Communication Department of Nguyen Tat Thanh University, said that the university has had 7 years of cooperation with Thanh Nien Newspaper to award Nguyen Thai Binh scholarships to poor studious pupils nationwide. This is the first time going to Ly Son Island to give scholarships to poor pupils of primary, secondary and high school levels, he felt so emotional to witness the poverty and difficulty of these children and also felt the sincerity and innocency of the Ly Son people. “We wish pupils always being optimistic to overcome difficulties and study well. Nguyen Tat Thanh University always welcome students to come and study,” said Mr. Trung. He also promised to return to Ly Son island one day, bringing with him the kindness of Nguyen Tat Thanh Unversity’s lecturers and staff, awarding scholarchips to poor and studious pupils.

Previously, Nguyen Tat Thanh University, Kim Oanh Charity Fund and Thanh Nien Newspaper, in collaboration with primary and secondary schools at remote areas of Quang Ngai province  awarded 100 scholarships to poor pupils to afford their study.
