12 EXCELLENT PROJECTS IN THE FINAL ROUND OF THE CONTEST ON “INNOVATIVE STARTUP IDEAS – NTTU START UP 2020”
On the morning of September 5th, 2020, at the District 4 campus, Nguyen Tat Thanh University held the semi-finals of the contest on “Innovative startup ideas – NTTU Start Up 2020” with the participation of 27 topics. After extremely dramatic rounds, at the end of the semi-finals, the organizing committee selected 12 projects to be in the final round.
The semi-finals of the contest on “Innovative startup ideas – NTTU Start Up 2020” is a competition between 27 groups of students from the faculties of Nguyen Tat Thanh University, including: Finance and Accounting, Business Administration, Food – Environmental Engineering, Biotechnology, Architecture – Civil Engineering – Applied Arts, Pharmacy, Foreign Languages, Information Technology, and NTT Institute of International Education.
With the participation of more than 37 competing groups with 137 students, in which 27 teams officially entered into the semi-finals after passing the preliminary round. This year, the semi-finals is a competition of many unique ideas, highly appreciated by the Board of Judges for the creativity and entrepreneurship spirit of the contestants.
Nguyen Ngan Luong – 3rd year student majoring in Hospitality Management (Leader of the Bebeter group) with the project “Growing organic vegetables in Phu Quoc combined with Science” shared: “I feel lucky to have entered the semifinals. Thanks the program for giving us a very useful playground which nurtures our talents and helps us confidently to break out ideas and implementing directions to make our dreams come true in the future”
Not only being the startup playground for current students, but also the return of groups of alumni of the university. Graduating since 2018, the Fighter group gathers members from different specializations including Pharmacy, Food Technology, and Chemical Engineering, in which each member has different strengths but the same spirit of startup determination. With the idea of “Snacks made from durian peel“, Nguyen Ngoc Quy – Alumni of the Faculty of Pharmacy (Leader of the Fighter group) shared: “We have known about the contest and used to participate since we were students, now we have already graduated but still have a burning dream to apply our learned knowledge into reality. Durian is the typical fruit of Vietnam, when I was at the university, I learned that durian peel was also a folk medicine for a number of diseases, however, most of the durian peel are removed. So it will help the farmers if we know how to use it. That is why my group comes to the program with the idea on “Snacks made from durian peel”.

The final round will take place on September 25, 2020. According to the Organizing Committee, in addition to the prizes, the organizers also support to incubate the winning ideas for the startups. The prize structure of this year includes one first prize of 10 million VND and 1-year incubation package at NIIC worth 60 million VND; two second prizes of 5 million VND each and 9-month incubation package at NIIC worth 45 million VND; two third prizes of 2 million VND each and 3-month incubation package at NIIC worth 15 million VND. There are also other consolation prizes as well as prizes for social impacts.
