NTTU collaborates with other universities to share educational resources and entrepreneurial activities

NTTU – On December 20, at the District 12 campus, Nguyen Tat Thanh University, along with the following universities: Dong Nai University of Technology, Nghe An University of Economics, Ho Chi Minh City University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City), and Dong A University, signed a memorandum of understanding for cooperation in library information, entrepreneurship, and innovation.

The program was attended by the leaders of the participating universities: Dr. Doan Manh Quynh – President of Dong Nai University of Technology, Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Hieu – President of Nghe An University of Economics, Dr. Pham Tan Ha – Vice President of Ho Chi Minh City University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Dr. Do Trong Tuan – Deputy President of Dong A University, as well as representatives from the library information centers, science and technology departments, and training management departments of the aforementioned universities.

Representing Nguyen Tat Thanh University were: Dr. Tran Ai Cam – President of the University, Ms. Tran Thi Thuy Kieu – Director of the Library Information Center, Dr. Nguyen Huu Thuan Anh – Deputy Head of the Science and Technology Department, Ms. Huynh Hong Mai – Deputy Director of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Incubation Center, along with other faculty members in leadership positions within relevant departments and units.

On behalf of the University Council and the Board of Presidents, Dr. Tran Ai Cam – President of Nguyen Tat Thanh University, welcomed the delegation from the participating universities. According to Dr. Tran Ai Cam, the collaboration between university libraries will establish a library network model, develop open educational resources, enhance services and utilities for students, and provide professional training for library staff. Dr. Cam emphasized that through collaborative library activities, universities can contribute positively to improving the quality assurance, evaluation, and ranking of universities, aligning with Ho Chi Minh City’s “Shared University” model.

Dr. Tran Ai Cam, President of Nguyen Tat Thanh University, hopes that through this signing ceremony, there will be further steps in cooperation to jointly develop and make advancements in the fields of library science, science and technology, and entrepreneurship and innovation.

According to the memorandum of understanding between Nguyen Tat Thanh University and the universities: Dong Nai University of Technology, Nghe An University of Economics, Ho Chi Minh City University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City), and Dong A University, the parties involved will carry out the following activities: sharing internal resources and databases among the parties; cooperation in providing library information services (loaning printed materials, providing documents); collaboration in professional expertise (supporting human resources training, supporting professional activities, etc.); supporting entrepreneurial and innovative activities.

According to representatives from the universities, the parties involved will collaborate on specific actions in library information, entrepreneurship, and innovation. For example, they will research the establishment of an “Association Library,” share access rights to digital learning resources, integrate and exploit digital learning resources on OPAC, develop a shared library interface among the parties, establish interdisciplinary research groups, collaborate on scientific and technological tasks, build databases of experts, scientists, and lecturers, and promote scientific research among students.

The university representatives introduced and discussed the collaboration contents in the fields of library science, science and technology, and entrepreneurship and innovation.

Sharing at the signing ceremony, Dr. Pham Tan Ha, Vice President of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City), expressed that cooperation between units should not be limited to sharing resources such as information, libraries, and digital documents but should also involve leveraging the strengths of each university to expand the information network. This is particularly important as information technology is becoming a catalyst for remote information exchange.

In agreement with this view, Dr. Doan Manh Quynh, President of Dong Nai University of Technology, emphasized the pivotal role of libraries as the “heart” of universities. Therefore, it is essential to invest in building modern, professional, and well-equipped library centers. Dr. Quynh also highlighted the need for universities to develop a coherent infrastructure, including linkages and convenient access for students’ research. Furthermore, he emphasized the importance of establishing rules for using databases among universities. Dr. Quynh expressed his hope for continued collaboration in entrepreneurial and innovative activities, especially since Nguyen Tat Thanh University has established a cooperative relationship with the Department of Science and Technology of Dong Nai Province in scientific research, technology transfer, entrepreneurship, and innovation activities.

Furthermore, the university leaders expressed their willingness to cooperate with Nguyen Tat Thanh University in various other fields such as training, faculty-student exchanges, development of shared educational resources, and open educational resources.
